Building a Gaming PC would like some opinions

hey there forum,
the computer i am thinking of building is basically for Hardcore Gaming mainly at extremely high setting on current to future games coming out....
Here is what i've got so far:
Tower: Cooler-master HAF-X RC-942
Power Supply Unit: Corsair Ax1200W
Motherboard: ASUS P8P67-DELUXE-V3 P67 DDR3 Intel 1155pin Motherboard
CPU: Intel core i7 2600k
Graphics card: 2X Asus Nvidia GTX 580
Blu Ray Drive: Pioneer BDR-206BK
2nd Blu Ray Drive: Pioneer BDR-206BK
RAM: G.Skill 16GB Kit DDR3 RAM
windows 7 ultimate 64bit OEM
Hard Drive: OCZ Vortex 3 240GB
Network Card: ASUS PCE-N13 Wireless-N 300M PCI-E Network Card[/b]
also do you recommend putting a sound card in it (if so which sound card is best for excellent sound) as i'll eventually get either a 5.1 surround or 6.1 or 6.2 surround system for it
another thing does the Asus P8P67-Deluxe- V3 support 3 way or 4 way SLI with the Nvidia GTX 580 as i've been having problems finding an answer to my question anyway any help would be greatly appreciated :)

the tower has 10 bays for hard drives so i can always get a 500GB hard drive as well :)
the graphics card has 1.5gb of ram
do think i should get a higher power supply as i intend on OCing my GPU's and CPU
Mod edit: Do not double post.

Do you even need to ask? Why, of course he intends to build a rig that can play all of the latest and greatest games of the twenty-first century at max settings while simultaneously hacking IBM, Intel, and Apple. All at the same time. While still having power to spare. Amirite?

1200w is plenty..... And why only 500gb? Do you have a NAS or something where you keep all your files? I have a SOHO that is pushing 10tb currently and that's all movies, anime, doujins, tv shows and pronz. 500gb wouldn't last me 2 months =\ I don't really see the point of getting 16gb of RAM... Especially as the timings are probably nothing flash. Hopefully they're higher frequency so you can tighten the timings during your OC'ing. Well, have fun hacking Google, YouTube, Facebook, MySpace, AMD, Apple, IBM, and Intel. God knows that thing is capable...

You still need a great cooling system if you're going to OC everything and then twenty-first century games Battlefield three probably the only game he will ever play with his OC everything.

I would switch those gtx 580s for a pair of cheaper HD 6970s, even though they are cheaper they scale much better in multi-gpu setups than the nvidia cards and really give a lot more bang for your buck for little performance loss (and if you're playing at resolutions higher than 1080p, the 6970s will actually have better performance a lot of the time with their higher amounts of vram than the 580s), and they likely wont be as bottlenecked with that motherboard's x8/x8 pcie setup than the 580s would. Also the 1200w psu is complete overkill, I suggest you look for a psu calculator online to get a much more accurate number on how much power that system will take up. Also you might want to consider getting the cheaper i5 2500k over the i7, the only real thing that the i7 will offer over the i5 is a slightly larger l3 cache (you won't notice it in games), hyperthreading (which sometimes lowers performance in games), and a slightly higher stock clock (which is easily made up for by overclocking, and the motherboard you got is good for overclocking). I would also get a cheap (but decent) CPU heatsink such as the coolermaster hyper 212+ or the scythe SCMG-2100 (scythe would be better at cooling the cpu). You should also drop one of those blu-ray drives and get a faster spinning (and cheaper) dvd drive, PC games aren't gonna use blu-ray discs anytime soon, you could keep the other for blu-ray movies. I would also get a cheaper case than the HAF-X and get something like the NZXT tempest evo, then use the money you save to get one or two samsung spinpoint f3 drives, or whatever hard drive you prefer to go along with that OCZ SSD. I would also get only two sticks of 4gb ram for a total of 8gb, games won't use 16gb of ram right now and when they do you can just buy two more sticks of ram, that extra idle ram will also actually put more load on the CPU.
Hope this helps.
Edit: The Asus P8P67-Deluxe will not support 3 or 4-way sli, if you want to do that I would wait until AMD comes out with bulldozer or Intel releases Ivy Bridge.
Hope this helps.

A couple of things I would recommend:
1. You don't need a 1.2kW PSU. If you are running a stock cooler and two video cards, at most you might need is 800W.
2. You do not need two Blu-Ray Burners. Period. Prices will eventually come down and you can get another one if you really need another one. But on another note, do you even NEED a Blu-Ray burner?
3. 580GTXs are nice, but for the price, you can either rock a 6990 or get a 6970 and pocket the change.
4. I would say you don't NEED 16GB of RAM (coming from me who is rocking 24GB, WTF), but why not I say since RAM prices have tanked.
5. With the money you saved so far, you can get a nice DAC such as an M-Audio card or Creative Ti. :)

Your rig is extremely overkill. Most games require up to 2 GB of RAM. 16 GB is nuts. Your power supply needs around 600-800W, 1200W is going to waste so much energy.
Why would you need 2 Asus Nvidia GTX 580? One would play almost any game. No need for 2 BR Drives.
I'm using the ASUS PCE-N13 too, works great.
How much is this costing you so far?
NCIX
1. Tower - $199.99 CAD
2. Power - $279.99 CAD
3. Motherboard - $246.24 CAD
4. CPU - $336.93 CAD
3/4. Board + CPU - $579.99 CAD
5. Graphic - $548.73 CAD (2 of them so $1097.46 CAD)
6. BR Drive - (No idea, but guessing around $100 each)
7. RAM - $179.98 CAD
8. Windows 7 - $209.60 CAD
10. HD - $549.99 CAD
11. Network - $25.32 CAD
So overall pricing is around - $3325.50 CAD
Just to let you know, after a couple of months using your computer, the price of your compute will be roughly $1000 - $1500 at most. Isn't this OVERKILL? (Just in my opinion).

Wow that's gonna be one bitchin setup. But 16GB ram? I'm no expert but I don't think that'd actually make anything faster.

Unless your planning on running 3 instances of crysis, on triple 24"-27" monitors, i would say its a massive waste, I guess it depends on your budget though, for instance if its free as a graduation present =D then fuck yes.
Also, do u need to go with Intel or are you using it for rendering or something?
Otherwise AMD and Radeon are what i would recommend, for your money.

Until Bulldozer and Fusion comes out, investing in AMD is a budget option and not something I'd recommend to anyone building a serious system.

Cray's use AMD.
And since i don't think someone who would be asking questions would be using hyper-threading much. i just don't see the real advantage of buying a Intel besides that its easier to find support for. And they seem to be competent enough to find good parts for a computer, so i am assuming they know how to use a computer good enough to easily compensate for that. I could talk about this for a vary long time. I helped my friends choose what they got and AMD is a good option. but the Phenom II x6 is a pretty good deal and they have nice Asus motherboards for AMD as well. sure you cant hyper-thread your stuff, but not much that a general user/gamer would be doing uses much of any threading anyway. Though i could be bias considering I love HPC and thats more about the economic scalability more then the quality.
They are a decent option, if you don't want to spend over 1.5k for a nice rig.

Games don't take advantage of hexa-core chips yet so getting a Phenom II x6 would result in lower performance than an x4 on games out right now. This guy is trying to build a power gaming machine, and a quad core Intel i5 chip is much less likely to bottleneck those sli 580's than a Phenom II chip at stock clocks, a Phenom II x6 can perform a higher amount of gflops, but the real world performance numbers lean towards Intel. The only real benefit he would gain in performance would only be in the (awesome) motherboard chipsets that AMD offers, and I don't think he's interested in the savings he would get with a Phenom II chip, considering that he's looking for performance. He also want's to get nVidia cards for 3D gaming, and AMD's HD3D pales in comparison to nVidia's 3d vision right now.

But it really would help if we knew some kind of budget. :P
