Pro-tip: Don't build something you will never use. Within the next 5 years, I find it hard to believe you will use more than 8 GB of ram for gaming, let alone 16 GB.
Pro-tip 2: Don't buy a 1200W power-supply for something that would only need around 550W-650W.
Pro-tip 3: Read a book about computers before you go out and spend $3000 on something you don't even understand.
You are gaming, not running a server, doing 3D graphic creation, using AutoCAD or compiling large programs.

would you recommend 1000W for OCing 2x SLi GTX580's?
btw i decided i wont be getting 16gb anymore i'll be sticking with 8gb ram now i might possibly think of doing animation on my computer seeing as i already have a graphic tablet that i've had stored away for a little while... main reason i was going for a 1200W was to make sure i'm not underpowered with two OC'd Graphics cards, CPU and RAM and 1 SSD and 2x 1TB HDD's....
Thanks for your advice though man :) appreciate it

hey there forum, the computer i am thinking of building is basically for Hardcore Gaming mainly at extremely high setting on current to future games coming out....
Here is what i've got so far:
Tower: Cooler-master HAF-X RC-942
Power Supply Unit: Corsair Ax1200W
Motherboard: ASUS P8P67-DELUXE-V3 P67 DDR3 Intel 1155pin Motherboard
CPU: Intel core i7 2600k
Graphics card: 2X Asus Nvidia GTX 580
Blu Ray Drive: Pioneer BDR-206BK
2nd Blu Ray Drive: Pioneer BDR-206BK
RAM: G.Skill 16GB Kit DDR3 RAM
windows 7 ultimate 64bit OEM
Hard Drive: OCZ Vortex 3 240GB
Network Card: ASUS PCE-N13 Wireless-N 300M PCI-E Network Card[/b]
also do you recommend putting a sound card in it (if so which sound card is best for excellent sound) as i'll eventually get either a 5.1 surround or 6.1 or 6.2 surround system for it
another thing does the Asus P8P67-Deluxe- V3 support 3 way or 4 way SLI with the Nvidia GTX 580 as i've been having problems finding an answer to my question anyway any help would be greatly appreciated :)
what are you gonna use the ssd for?
if ya only runnin' the OS i don't think you will need that much, you just wasting ur money.
and talk about ssd, I recommending the intel elm crest 120gb is more than enough.
and the power supply, you want to OCing it right?
better stick with the ax1200 to stay safe, so your system won't get any prob.(well actually 1k is enough too)
one more thing, consider take the 590 to safe ur money :)

Well what are you gonna use for cooling a fan, heatsink, or liquid cooling. Well if it was a extreme gaming and u could afford it I would say get a liquid nitrogen cooling system but if that's too extreme water would do the trick also

thanks for the advice i have a big shuruken fpor my cpu cooler and i will be adding more fans for my computer possibly get liquid cooling a bit down the track as for now it should be as my case has 7 fans in it already thats should be good for now i think... i read into getting a gtx 590 over two gtx 580's and from fair amounts of results the 2 gtx 580s are better than the 590's which i was quite surprised by but anyways i have almost everything guys just got to get my graphics cards and a HDD

Here's the Logical Increments PC Buying guide. Its based off of your budget which is displayed in the right column. The more money you have the further down you can go. Tegumi pointed this out to me a while back but they keep it updated regularly:

I was going to upgrade my card to the 560 Ti and I noticed EVGA has a pre-overclocked card and it comes with Crysis 2 which I was going to get anyways. With the rebate it comes to $240. Crysis 2 is a $60 game so it comes down to being $180 for the card. However Amazon has Crysis 2 for $40 but it is still a good deal.

Just so you know, the GTX 590 is really just two underclocked GTX 580 chips in the same card, and the GTX 590 is a very difficult card to even overclock if you want to get both gpus in it back to stock sli 580 speeds, and even malfunctions most of the time you try to push it further. It should be pretty easy to see that two GTX 580s faster than a GTX 590 after considering this. The upside to getting a 590 is that it's cheaper than two 580s.

Agreed, alienware computers are just overpriced PCs that are past their prime.

Wow that's gonna be one bitchin setup. But 16GB ram? I'm no expert but I don't think that'd actually make anything faster.

hey everyone thanks for all your help i really appreciate it :)
my computer is finished for the moment but have had one small problem and that being the Scythe Big Shuriken CPU cooler i got doesnt fit on my motherboard because of my G.Skill RipJaw X's are to high for it and it doesnt clip in so this will hopefully be my last question for you all which is any ideas for a great CPU cooler that isnt wider than the Big Shuriken and height shouldn't be too much of a problem seeing as the HAF-X 942 Case has heaps of room.... i was looking at the zalman CNPS9900Max cpu cooler which i read reviews from multiple sources which they say competes pretty well up against the Noctua D-14 CPU cooler but just misses out by a little bit so i'm still not quite sure if the zalman would be a good choice....
by the way sorry guys for all the questions over the course of this forum i hope you can forgive me and thanks again for everything :)

Why not get the Noctua? It looks like it is high enough to give your ram the room it needs. Unless you know for certain that it will not fill.

That Noctua does a monster job at cooling the cpu, it's really one of the best air cpu coolers available.
