I don't really see where gender can get in the way of love. So what if the woman I love was a man at birth? What matters is who they are now and that I'm in love with them.

I don't believe in gender reassignment surgery. It's self mutilation, and it breaks my heart. I don't understand why someone could ever hate themselves so much as to physically alter themselves in such an extreme fashion. I also wonder how much of gender reassignment surgeries are performed because the person is ashamed of their sexual orientation. That thought in and of itself makes me want to cry.

Have you ever actually studied the subject? In fact, sexual orientation has little to do with a person's gender identity. In fact, if a man (for instance) chose to continue life as a woman... most likely, SHE'd still be sexually attracted to women. Gender identity DOES NOT equal sexual orientation. Many of the people going through with surgery have years of therapy to make sure they are mentally sound before any physical alterations happen. Often, these people felt from a very young age that they were born in the wrong body... just like many people know that they're homosexual from childhood. Before you make assumptions, I'd recommend doing research instead of guessing at how others feel.

I understand what you're saying.. I do. But it's still self-mutilation. My opinion is not what it is for lack of compassion, or willingness to understand and accept that someone prefers to think of themself as a different gender than they were born into, it's just this idea... that someone finds a part of themself so.. WRONG. Maybe I'm just a sap... but I really do wish that everyone could love themself as they are, and not feel the need to change.

Well I dont mind being friends but I don't think I could bring myself to love a natural born dude.

I see no problem here. I had sex with men and women in the past.. it doesn't bother me none.I agree, =p, I'm bi so there would be no problem with it ^_^ haha
I second that but I am Pansexual so I don't care for gender I care for personality. So yes if I loved this person I would really love them even if they were still a guy

Sex is about more then sticking your dick in someone else, jeez. And not all transgenders choose to remove or change their genitalia - for ftm mostly because the surgery isn't advanced enough to allow them to have a perfectly working penis.

im not talking about performing the act of sex your misunderstanding, Im talking about what type of mentallity would lead a person to the logic that "im attracted to breast, lips, face, vagina ect, but at the same time i wish i had those parts to the point that i would augment my body to get them if i could" and for what purpose? if im not sexually attracted to men why would i want to reconfigure my body to a body that would attract a male (adding breast, hips, shaving ect.) it just doesnt make any sense to me.
If you told me that the person is homosexual and wanted to to change the person they are to attract a mate that would make since but to say, im a man but at the same time i wanna be a woman but also i wanna fall in love with a woman just doesnt make sense.

i find it hard to understand what the confusion is... its just like making a big deal why john is not using a spoon to have his miso soup while jack wants to. aint it just as simple as... thats just what they want to do with their lives?

I'd say no, after all he is still a man no matter how many sex change operations he takes to be a woman, actually the main reason is that I wont date someone who cant accept what they are so they undergo various modifications just to be something else, aside from being straight of course. I know that there are cases when men feel that they are female even though they arent but I dont support insecurity and identity issues, the greatest virtue is to know yourself and I stick to it as a principle. Its just people who cant accept what they are.Ps. I'd really like to know who was butthurt enough to -rep me for having my own opinion, but I suppose a newfag lol.
Spoiler:
Congrats, you have been granted +1 internetz rep back. But to reply to your statement, that actually is very true, genetically speaking anyway. However, "man" or "woman" in a social or subjective sense really has no boundaries, which is where this topic lies.....

Well, I only spoke for myself but in general we are genetically programmed to love someone of opposite sex (in most cases at least), as before I will state my opinion again that it would be impossible for me to love(as in romance) someone of opposite sex, since no matter what they do, genetically they are still male.
