Nope not Australian lol just Canadian XDbest to avoid anime since you really want to understand the body Its better to do life drawings or reference of a pic.
you should read this book http://www.amazon.ca/Force-Dynamic-Life-Drawing-Animators/dp/0240808452/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1294304647&sr=8-1
Its really helped me out with my gesture drawings.
Kanu is right. Humans is what you should be looking at. After all, it's what Anime/Manga is trying to imitate (in a way). You best start at the roots and work your way from there. You'll be a lot more successful in executing any gestures/figure-ground/proportions.

Ill be honest with you guys I first started off in anime/manga style and kept at it for a long time cuz I really enjoyed it and loved it a lot, also did some other types of art in highschool drawing and painting class
EX. lifedrawing, painting, pastel, charcoa, scratch board, etc and on.
Not too long ago like around 7 months or so I made a shift and ditched the anime and challenged myself to do realism... but do what you have to do and do what you like as well so you can achieve the improvement and results your looking forward to so I don't expect you to listen to me and just follow what I say just try and consider it for later in the run if anime or non realistic isn't working for you.[b]

Ive decided probably what ill do is try and finish that Gravion hentai since I have a good direction where im going with it and I can also gauge on the style & skill level im at right now in the process. Ill just use pencils and clean it up afterwards in painter. Of course, its all to establish my style as im not sure exactly what it will be by the end of all this experimentation, though it will still have routes in manga unquestionably. Its been a while since ive last drawn but ill keep updating this section so you can see how im going over time. Thanks for all the tips so far guys, heres hoping it all pays off in the end!
