My main computer is a laptop with a 17" display. Together with an extra monitor, external mouse and keyboard I'm quite happy with it when working or playing (Empire Total War even works on it).
I rather like laptops because of their small size which comes in handy when I just have to move my work place on short notice - I even use an EeePC netbook as an Java application server (Glassfish) :).

I just have a desktop, but I plan to get a convertible laptop soon for uni. Not having one for that programming class last quarter was a pain. >_> On the bright side, almost everyone in my dorm is jealous of my desktop. :D

I use a laptop because my desktop is not in very good shape.
To be honest I'm surprised it's capable of even turning on.

It depends on what its intended for. For me though, it is obviously a desktop, there is no moment where I need to use a laptop. Laptops are only for people on the field in my opinion.

Laptop; it was a bargain for the features, and it's good enough for retro games, FIFA and FPS' on low settings. Everything I need on the move. :P

Computer. I like the idea of a laptop, but I'm never traveling or otherwise on the move. Owning a laptop for personal home use is just a silly idea when you can typically do better with a cheaper and more powerful PC. I have several friends that do that. I'm constantly asking "What is the point of owning a laptop and treating it as a PC when you are never on the go?" I just don't get it.
