Computer Setup

Ok, time to flex my ePeen. I apologize for the dark pictures. I have never bothered to get myself a nice digital camera but I just got a nice HD camcorder, so there's no flash on it. You can still make everything out. Yes I know my desk is a bit messy.



The large screen is a 22" Dell, that's my main computer. The Matrix screen saver is my Ubuntu Linux server.



AMD Phenom 9850 2.5ghz Quad Core, 4.6ish gb of RAM, 2 nVidia 8800GT's in SLI, DVD Burner, 34gb 15,000RPM SCSI drive for the OS and 400gb SATA drive for everything else. I'm running Vista Business 64-bit with no trouble, but sadly it is eating up 22gb of my poor SCSI drive! ;_;

Lastly, my web/ftp/ProgressQuest/torrenting machine/file server. Yes it's doing all of that and still has time to search for extraterrestials.



AMD Athalon64 3800+ 2.4ghz 2gb of RAM 80gb HD as main OS drive. Now, on to the good stuff about this machine:



That is 4, 1 Terabyte drives in RAID 5(so I don't loose my shit). In case you're wondering, there is nearly 1tb of anime on there and the rest is CD images, music, movies, TV shows, and pictures(including comincs/manga and the stuff from Fakku)

Other things of note: There is a Harmon/Kardon 5.1 surround sound receiver on my desk which is entirely pointless but sounds absolutely amazing. The file server sits on a rack with a 24port network switch. Also pointless but it's so convenient to have plenty of available network ports within easy reach. Oh, and I run DDWRT on my router, HA! :lol:

I know 4 people who live in the same building as me with that same case...

my server, the reason its down, cause of now i have only one monitor.. and cant change cables every time i want to access it, tho im using dads PC as a server for the moment.... tho he doesnt know about that : P

Man you gotta do some cable management with that puppy.
Specially since you have P182 it should be a piece of cake.
IMO it would be a shame to mod the case cause you'd lose its sound dampening properties.

There's that 22" LCD, the cable modem, Razer Lycosa and Diamondback 3G etc. Nothing very special, just a small nice corner for my gaming and fapping needs..


And there's my rig in a CM5 and the Gigaworks T3's woofer on the floor to deliver more boom :D

I have a X-Fi Titanium in there, I don't really like on-board sound when I use my IEMs, they sound horrible. EAX sounds good on some games :D

My CPU is a Intel E8400 @ 4.0GHz on air, runs a little too hot for the climate here when the air-con is turned off so it's usually at 3.6GHz unless I need the power for video encoding etc.

And there's a HD4870 512MB at ref speed, haven't got into the mood for overclocking recently

Well I got those from Ebay, you are looking at about US$40 - 55 each including shipping. BTW I have 2 sets of X530. 1 on the desktop desk and 1 at the back of my bed. And a set of X230 for the laptop on the desk XD
