Computer Setup

Man those are some nice setups! How come I can't get something that cool?
Anyways, here's my setup:
Acer Aspire T135
1.8Ghz AMD Sempron processor
768mb Ram (really running at 704)
Windows XP SP
DVD/CD Burner Combo Drive
160GB HD
Integrated graphics card (I was strapped for cash)
Run-of-the-mill 2ch speaker system
Optical mouse
Standard issue Logitech keyboard
17in monitor from my old Dell PC
HP multi purpose printer (scans, copies, prints)
Oh and a D-Link router so that I can also play my DS
God I hope I get this permanent gig with Game Stop so that I can save up the cash for a better system. I'm hating XP more and more everyday.
EDIT:
Reverted back to SP2 after I had to do a system restore a couple days ago due to one nasty virus, bypassing my McAfee. Never again am I installing SP3 on my machine.

Hey, it's not so bad, I know not everybody can afford a-OH MY GOD YOU DON'T EVEN HAVE A FULL GIGABYTE OF RAM, YOU POOR BASTAAAARD
More than any other out-of-date part, low amounds of RAM that don't even reach a proper exponent of 2 are the worst (IMO). I wouldn't wish that on anybody ;___;

Well, considering the ram that my computer runs off of is I believe DDR800, or DDR700, which is not cheap down here. I think for that 512, I paid between 40 and 50 bucks for it. If I really wanted to upgrade to a full 2gb, I'm looking at a good 200-250 bucks, considering each slot can do 1gb.

I think if you search online listings (do you live in a country that supports craigslist?), you might be able to find a used computer for sale, or maybe you can post a request for someone to dump theirs. There are people out there with much faster computers than your that go unused, that they are ready to give away.

I live in the US, so I know craigslist would work, but several of my friends have used it, and gotten burned on deals. But ironically, the place where I got my RAM also sells refurbished computers, some of which are much slower than mine (I swear I found a 350mhz in there once!). But they also have some faster stuff. But seeing as I'm strapped for cash at the moment, I'm stuck with my current pc, which is getting the job done. But I also want to save up for when I do get a job, I can get something that runs windows 7. I'm hating XP more and more everyday, especially with all the damn times that it says it needs to be updated, only for me to find out before I do the updating, one of those updates is a rogue program, namely the security.

Here's what I do:
* I don't completely recommend this like some of the other things I'm about to say, but consider going back to Service Pack 2, in which case you'd have to download a pirated copy of it and reinstall Windows. I've heard SP2 is less buggy with drivers and supposedly has less bloatware relative to SP3; don't quote me on that though.
* Don't ever let Windows do automatic update, go to the control panel and set it so you have to do it all yourself, then go to Internet Explorer and look for "Windows Update" or "Microsoft Update" in the "Tools" menu.
* Research things that Windows tries to make you update. If you don't get what the "Malicious Software Removal" thingie is, google it.
* Try a registry cleaning program, though registry cleaning is sort of like Windows-voodoo; some people say it works wonders while others call it bogus. Look into COMODO System Cleaner

So I just got done successfully building my first computer and wanted to know how many others of you also have a self built machine. If you do have a self built go ahead and tell us what you have and tell us a bit about your experience.
I must say it was a ton of fun to build my own computer and it feels great to have the freedom of over-clocking. Everything seemed to go together well and worked right off the bat so sadly no funny stories from me.
I built mine with these components:
Graphics Card - EVGA GeForce GTX 470 (I then over-clocked it using the tool they include with the card called EVGA precission)
Processor - Intel I7 930 (Over-clocked to 4.0 ghtz)
RAM - 6 gigs of OCZ DDR3 rated at 12800 mhz (Then over-clocked to 16000 mhz)
Computer Case - Cooler Master HAF 932 full tower case
CD Drive - Samsung blu-ray player (It was OEM so I had to get software to actually run/process blu-ray disks)
CPU Cooler - Noctua NH-U12p (set up with both fans for push-pull)
Thermal Compound - Arctic Cooler MX-2
Motherboard - EVGA E758 X58
Power Supply - Corsair HX series 750W modular power supply
HD's - Stole the 500 gig from my old dell and have another 1.5T just for data storage, never did check the brand on them]

Phenom II 955
Diamond ATI 5770
MSI NF750 G55
Patriot 4GB 1600mhz
Coolermast CM690
Corsair 750TX
320GB WD HDD
640GB Hitachi HDD
also have two 1TB external HDD's Toshiba and WD
still need to get an aftermarket cooler to oc the cpu
@Tegumi
i would think his computer would be pretty quiet with a case with huge fans and I'm used to noctura stuff being fairly silent

Do you know what the average ghtz overclock is for the AMD?
The only thing that makes the entire rig sound like that is when I set the graphics card to its O.C. profile that I created, that fan spinning up to 4-5k rpm is loud as hell. That is only when I play games though.
