Do you know the difference between hentai manga and doujinshi?

For a long time now I have been considering dividing the manga section into two sections: 1) manga, and 2) doujinshi.
Hentai manga are most often completely original series by an artist. For example, Triple H https://www.fakku.net/viewmanga.php?id=3133
Hentai doujinshi are most often parody works based on an existing anime or manga. For example, Imouto Mikan is based on To-Love ru https://www.fakku.net/viewmanga.php?id=3033
So basically the manga section would be divided into original work and non original work.
What are your thoughts on this?

In the world of Gensokyo i learned the new vocabulary "Doujin music"
It describes music made by fans of said franchise.
I can somehow translate "doujin" into "fanmade".
"Doujinshi" misses the last letter on the title of this thread.
Edit: After a bit of thought i would say that it should be divided.
I mean, hell yeah, let's tidy up the forum xD
It's not that i divide my own collection into those criteria but to find things more easier [like artists]
We just need to decide how we handle those collaboration-threads like Comiket threads. Better put them into the doujinshi or the manga section? c(°~°C)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the real difference how they are published? The hentai manga are from a publisher, while the doujinshi are self published.

I think this is a good idea. Especially for sorting through the Original Works extensive list. How to sort that extensive list is another matter that will have to be discussed once the preliminary "Should we do this?" phase is over.

I too was under the impression that doujins are self-published...
Judging from my experience with åŒäººèªŒ marked scans from comiket that are original stories... though this might be still mistake made by those uploading them...
but when i looked it up in dictionary software (wakan)...
åŒäººèªŒ means "fanzine", "publication aimed at a particular hobby group" or "publication sold directly, not via commercial publishers"

I automatically divided a thread of uploads into doujinshi and manga once, and when everyone questioned me over it I looked it up to make sure. :p
Either way, that division would be helpful.

well sure. a doujinshi doesnt have to be hentai in any way. Its just a fanfiction of a series drawn out as a manga. I have a few dozen non H doujinshi

That sounds like a fantastic idea. I also sort my hentai that way.
This is a little bit of a side note, but along with this, maybe you could separate the artists into two (or three, see note below) groups (or just have it display what they do).
Special note: Are they any artists who do both under the same name? I know that Da Hootch/ShindoL and Fukudahda/Kensoh Ogawa use different names for doujinshi versus manga, but I wasn't sure if there are any that don't make that distinction.

oh what i did know that i just didn't really think aboutit . one an original series and the other is basically a "ripoff" (calm down I couldn't think off a better word) of a pre-excisting story

Great idea Jacob!
It makes me easier to tell the one to another. Reading hentai or doujinshi depends on my mood, so if i can choose, i'd be very happy.

I approve of this and have also suggested it in the past. You have my vote ;D

Where would we place the works that are part original and part doujinshi? In the “Other” category?
I’m going to go out on a limb and assume the reason for making a change would be something more than a desire to educate the masses on the technical differences of these two terms.
I mainly hang out in the Requests section and no longer even care if someone uses the terms wrong. Everyone that helps out there (What up my peeps!) are able to make a solid guess at what’s really being asked for and share their knowledge.
Okay, separate sections sounds great, but to what end? Please back up some and let us in on why such a move would be welcomed.
What are our goals in doing this?
Is there a problem with the current design now?
Who are our targeted audience?
Would this change make a better experience for this targeted group?
So, again, what’s the real issue here? Is it because there is too much clutter and this is an attempt to bring some order to the chaos?
If so I’d vote not to stop here but, go all the way and settle on a solid naming formula for the files themselves, where it wouldn’t matter if the work was an original, doujinshi, a combination of original work and parody, non-hentai, etc.
Have it flexible enough to handle circle and author names, multiple languages and the names of the translators who’ve blessed us with their time and skill.
So, if a separation is going to happen why not properly name everything else like circles and authors too and base it off a reliable database like Mugimugi or something.
Am I going too far?
