Do you need to study before taking tests?

I never got the concept of studying. I'm in college and for some reason I never had the need to study in my life other than occasional reading for finals. I remember most of the info after going over it once. For example, i remember every math formulas, scientific laws, history, language, etc. after reading it once. My friends cuss at me for my supposed "gift" but i suck at essays though so i guess it evens out. i have to wonder, am i the only one? BTW i don't have photographic memory.

Yep but there is still a what you so called "stock knowledge". Even if I don't review on some particular topics on a subject, I would still be able to do well in an examination. Well anyway, just to be safe I would still review for goodness sake.

Getting back on topic, it appears that they are quite a few intelligent people on Fakku. Unfortunately, I am not one of them. I had to study and revise the various subjects I took and even then, it does not guarantee good grades.

Personally I have never had to study for anything. There was the review work we would get in class. I would make sure to do that just to be sure I would get a good grade on whatever test it happened to be, but I never did like independent, at home studies. For the most part I aced all of my tests. Homework was the thing I failed at. I just chose not to do it.

I only review things just to refresh my memory, more like skimming over material.
I rarely studied for exams, even in university. The only exemptions are, first, if it's an "advance exam" - the type of bullshit professors employ wherein they issue an exam first before discussing the subject material, and second, if the exam requires you to do advance reading, e.g. library research. But thankfully these didn't happen that often.

I have studied one time in my life and it wasn't even for a test for school, I wanted a good score on the ASVAB. And even then it was like a one day read over some general knowledge thing. I coulda done better.
Anyway, in school I was a total bum, never did any homework and barely passed, but I had like a 93% Average on all the tests, so hey, whatever.
For some reason my school tracked the average homework grade per class as well as the average test score per class. Not sure if other schools did that.

I studied a bit in high-school and I'm studying more in college. It doesn't take me long to memorize things but I'm not some super genius who just absorbs knowledge by being near it.

I often have to study weeks and weeks to prepare for a test and still manage to pass it just barely.
I finished the hardest type of high school Holland has, but I still don't feel as smart as many others. I think I just suck at studying.

I generally tended to study for my highschool tests, though my results were generally just above average. Occasionally, they'd turn out dammn good though.
I didn't like the act of learning, but from perspective it's *very* useful, as the knowledge you learn is remembered better...or rather, you have easier time recalling it when the situation calls for it.
And I don't trust my memory particularly well, so just for sake of me not worrying, I would revise important concepts (like psychology theorems, difficult math formulas, that sort of thing) every now and then.

Everything knowledge based, yes; English was just conjuring up opinions in the flashiest way possible.
I was genuinely interested in my school subjects and had a lot of base knowledge, but the way I hold a pen defies science, and so I write incredibly slowly. I'm pretty positive that I could otherwise have fluently bullshitted my way through most things with fancy words, but that pretty much forced me to cram knowledge, although those two days before an exam is all it ever was. Served me well for the most part. :p

I barely ever studied until my last term of high-school, when I realized that I was about to flunk math, which I sadly enough did even though I pulled study-sessions on a regular basis. Math just isn't my thing.
Now I've just started college and ain't really sure on how much I'll have to study, this far it seems that I'll have to study, but not excessively. I'll see if reading shit like Sociolinguistics will change that.

I only really studied during my last year of high school as well. Math is totally different though, if you do the homework you won't need to study most of the time.
