So far, I only watched Howl's Moving Castle, Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works The Movie, The Girl Who Leap Through Time and Gundam 00: Awakening of The Trailblazer for movies. From those, I can't pick one favorite.

Being a Gundam fan, I kinda can't miss out on the OVAs. They always are better than the TV series, and have a lot more detail in them, and compared to the TV series, have higher quality. Gundam F 91 is a shining example of the detail in put into movies, as well as Unicorn for the OVAs. It's just awesome seeing the OVAs and movies add on the already expansive universe the series is in.

I usually watch OVAs with my brother.
Since he has a big amount of anime in his laptop. For the movie, it depends on what anime does it come from.

I only watch OVA or Movies but not Anime
Since most of anime destroys the essence of the original story and adding some useless scene that has nothing to do with anime even though im very glad they add to shed some light for some scenes but still i perfer the OVA
Example is Clannad where they excel in most scenes and always sticks in the story and makes an OVA for some extra scenes and other endings
Naruto on other hand.......you fill the blanks

id say both sometimes its a necessity and even when its not why not watch the film/ova its just another part to a good story take the Ranma 1/2 ova for example the show was over the ova didn't change the ending but it game you a "fnv0efoljfhgldshgoshfo" moment that was kind of a troll but totally worth it ova's and movies just give ya more of what ya like

There are so many great OVAs and Movies its hard to pick just one.
In the OVAcategory I would say the older ones, which stand alone, like:
Patlabor, Heldensagen vom Kosmosinsel, Cpt. Harlock or Record of Lodoss War.
Movies is even harder.
Akira is still one of my favorites. But Mononoke Hime is great too. And then there is Nausicaä which I watch once or twice a year.

Both. Movie usually has an amazing different storyline. And, OVA's usually contains lots of ecchi than anime episodes lol.
