Honestly, I'm looking forward to this. Looks like their gonna try to make it as fucked up as possible, so that's a plus in my book.

Movie came out today and I plan to see it this weekend if my schedule permits it. I heard that Bruce Campbell makes a cameo at some point in the movie. It's supposed to be really brief, so you have to pay attention to catch it. I've already heard a few good things about this flick, so I'm feeling pretty confident about seeing it. Might even rewatch the original trilogy before going.

Exactly, Evil Dead was satirical it's not supposed be a horror film.

Actually, the original Evil Dead movie was a straight, independent horror film made with a non-existent budget (and with a healthy dose of camp) that managed to become a cult classic. It wasn't until Evil Dead 2 where Raimi started to purposefully add in the humor to the series.

From what I can understand, the new movie is more of a successor to the original, in a similar vein as the Dawn of the Dead and The Hills Have Eyes remakes. This movie keeps to the same aesthetic themes and setpieces as the original, while trying to improve on some aspects at the same time. Based on some early review, the director had apparently did a great job with this shooting this movie and actually cared and respected the original movies.

Gonna try to catch a showing this weekend now that I know I'm not working for the next couple of days.
