Just remember to have variety, you don't want to keep working on one thing and then forgetting everything else, which happens to me a lot.

no one said you have to draw women just to try and learn your anatomy and to keep working at drawing to improve so you can make badass men like solid snake,dante... etc and list goes on to ur liking.

Life drawings and experimentation and your good to go my friend. You'll improve quickly by doing these.

I started drawing at I dunno 4? But it was very crappy ass drawings so I don't want to dive into that again.
and plus, I trust that it would be good practice when I actually get to read the books then.

In my honest opinion just draw yourself naked, I can't draw girls so well which gave the female artists i know the advantage over me due to their ability of their own human anatomy

@mangaka, dude those aren't even his drawings, those were done by the anons at /m/ the design was by the TC though, the styles vary so much that you should've noticed it. Also even though they are gigantic assholes, you'll get FAAAAR more honest critiques over there at 4chan than the fluffed up ones here.

just don't bother with 4chan... if you honestly want C&C then go to DA they will give you what you want and they are more harsh then I am on this forums.

I agree art classes aren't needed but they do certainly help, at least from my experience. But the art classes I take don't actually provide much technical assistance, but help you develop. But "How to" books are a waste of money. never buy them. I would only consider looking a them for reference only. Because there isn't a specific way for things to be drawn. Plus it hinders people from developing their own "style".

im not gonna take classes but I would like to read some actual books that would help like Andrew Loomis or something

Yeah, that guy might be what you are looking for. I have this one here, which is similar. It goes into depth about how the body parts should look in various angles and positions.
While I have used it a few times, it was for really minor stuff, and in the end, it didn't help much at all. I can get the same kind of reference or better by simply searching pictures on google pics. But again, do get one if you're interested.

I'm not gonna buy the books. I figured it would be easier to borrow books from a local library since its all on shelf back in the library catalogue.
Oh and that book by Gordon Louise is on shelf too. So I'll probably check that out too. But to be honest I'm a bit critical about all these books because yes I would try and understand and practice the styles they are trying to make me do but I feel that its all up to me after I practice a lot.

In addition to what everyone else said, an immediate help to your drawings would be to do them in pencils and then go over them. I think the ones you poster could be improved drastically by going over them again, although you will of course have to get the proper proportions eventually in order to improve.

Anyone recommend any specific readings? I've currently got Andrew Loomis' Figure Drawing. And gonna get a book by Christopher Hart called Human anatomy made amazingly easy.
