[Locked] FAKKU Helpers Wanted
0
I wouldn't mind helping out. Why should you pick me? If there is a tag something deserves, I will give it that tag.
-1
Since Jacob hasn't made a post since his original I have a feeling we've all been duped. A few of us did the actual work of finding things that need tagging, and we did it for a chance at a possible higher position. In actuality we were just doing other people's job for them. We're a bunch of Class A suckers.

We call that system comments. Not all users are devoted taggers or active members of other hentai sites (or even Fakku), so without some sort of thread like this to ASK users to describe what they can offer, who's to say what skill or lack thereof anyone has? Trolls work just as hard as earnest users sometimes.
If the tags on a manga were constantly in flux because of user opinion/perspective (for example, 'relative' opinion tags like pettanko, oppai, forced and ntr [in some people's eyes]), then no one would benefit.
By having a set-value system of tagging (i.e. what exactly a manga must include to constitute the use of a certain tag) established by admins, then carried out by trusted users with this knowledge, things work more smoothly and with fewer discrepancies.
Also, there are only so many tags, users can't add their own even if they were given tag privileges: even current taggers can't add their own (though uploaders sometimes have in the past, this is not common) tags. We simply check the boxes with the tags available that apply.
Yes, it's not a perfect system, but it's the lesser of two evils (in this case, all-out tagging debates vs. lack of tagging at all). In light of that, everyone can do their part by reporting any issues/tags/errors to the threads you referred to. Group participation is still welcome, very much so.
On the contrary, I think the set-value tagging system you're describing sounds like a good idea, as it's much simpler just to choose tags from a checklist, and the problems of spam-tagging or misspelled tags are completely eliminated. :)
I can see where the "relative opinion" tags can be an issue; the discrepancies between the tags "small breasts" and "normal breasts" are very few, though I would personally consider a doujin in which "small breasts" are primarily focused on to be tagged "pettanko", and one in which regular or large breasts are its main focus to be tagged "oppai". Where "forced" and "netorare" are concerned, it seems to be more of an obvious thing to me; any instance where a girl or guy are having sex without consent, regardless of their enjoyment in the process, would be considered "forced", while "netorare", to me, is a person in a relationship (which is either shown or referenced by a character in the doujin) consents to having sex with one or more people (situations where the person is forced into cuckold would be tagged "netorare" AND "forced").
Can you tell I primarily read doujins? ^_^;;

I wouldn't necessarily assume that; he's probably got a bunch of other stuff to do other than replying to this thread. :P And I'm pretty sure tagging isn't being offered as a job with the reward of a better placement in the Fakku community hierarchy, or even as a paying job. xD It's something that users should be doing because they want to be helpful.

Again, I'm not arguing the definitions: what you're describing is what we're already considering for tagging.
I'm not sure I see what new point you're making here...

Its not a problem to help but without the said position, as well.
Also, Jacob is REALLY slow, due to his great level of laziness and busyness. Be patient.

I wasn't arguing definitions either or trying to make any point; I was stating my stance on that issue to give whoever is choosing new helpers something to take into consideration if they were to choose me as a helper. :)
I hope it's not a bad thing.

Very pius of you, so the thought of having a little control on Fakku hasn't influenced you in the slightest?

No, it hasn't.
We don't all do things for a reason, humans are impulsive beings.
What does a higher position bring with it? More responsibility, more time drain, and less possibilities to screw around and have fun because you're busy overlooking your "higher position" duties.
Would I like to be Jacob? No. Do I want to be a mod? No. Do I want to help Fakku because it helped me meet new people and is a damn awesome place? Yes. Hell, If i got offered a position i would refuse, and I have refused other offers in life. Because getting promoted can be a pain in the ass.

Yes, "applying", but as you can see from a LOT of those "applications", they're just completely new users who finally thought they found a good reason to join Fakku. Some even claim to be perfect for the job, yet the way they post only shows they're not right for the job, no offense to those concerned.Oh dear god thank you. I thought I'm the only one who though of that. I've been checking this thread time to time from the start even tho I havent replied to it before. And the amount of the users who want to help and only have 1-5 posts makes me think a bit. I understand that before those people didnt see any reason to register/post on the forums. But when Jacob (and friends) start choosing the helpers from this thread, I wonder what chances those people with 1-5 posts have against people with 500-2000 posts who are well known in fakku and most importantly who have been members for so long that the admins/mods know if they are trustworthy or not. And Jacob (and friends) cant really know of these people with only few posts are trustworthy.
And I'm not saying this to hurt anyone or to say that everyone of you people with only few posts are trolls or something.

Why I'm suited for the job? Well, I read a lot of doujinshi and really like them xD

I know I'm not a very active member on here (no posts or nothing) but I've been a huge fan of this site for a long time and I am more than willing to help the site in any way I possibly can. I am more than available to help out with tagging the mangas on the site when I'm not in school or working (which is a lot of free time)
