My fellow Fakkers.

I'd like to invite all of you into sharing your sketches with the rest of us.

The sketches are for all of us to learn from and get constructive crits. Post demos you make to share information with the rest of us.

This is a great opportunity for any of you who wish to be ero-artists.

Post here as often as you like.

Here is the only rule. Post sketches or works in progress, if you have a piece of finished work post it into the images section album.
to start you guys off

i always have trouble drawing the framework

jonsmth go ahead and throw some sketches up.

i've always learned best from good crits. its also harder to avoid drawing when you know someoness expecting you to post something.

i'll just go do that

btw, does this thread mean that anybody could post their stuff here?

That was the plan with the daily sketch share.

I figured if i set up a topic with daily sketches ppl would start posting their sketches in the thread.

So everyones invited including you jonsmth

btw here are todays sketches, these were done as studies while decensoring a new manga:

So on top of sharing sketches i suggested that we discuss learning thechniques too. These arent the prettiest pictures ive painted but they are here to get you inspired to try out this method so you dont feel like youre the onlyones trying this out.

So this weeks technique is called magazine completion.

begin with a thin magazine like newsweek or entertainment weekly

1. go from cover to cover and draw every picture spend no more than 3 min.

2. the goal is pencil milage not pretty pictures.

3. added benefit is you get familiar drawing things you arent always interested in.

i spend abour 45 min drawing out of a whole hour. about 15 drawings.

Here are some hightlights

Ok today daily sketch update comes in the form of dl movie. I do a computer version of the sketch exercise.. kinda works better than just some crummy pics. its about 7 min long and it starts with scanning demo, page prep and then an actual speed draw plus some sped up ones.

This magazine comp is a good daily exercise and a great warm up for draughting days.

without further ado:

That was pretty cool fodder, I actually watched the whole thing and it was quite interesting. You should do more of those and possibly throw them up on YouTube or something so they are easier to watch.

I do all of the basic graphics on the site but none of it is my own drawings. You should consider getting one of those drawing tablets.

Time for another update:

These were done using the magazine completion technique demonstrated above:

With a few changes:

1. the pics were form an old hustler magazine
2. they were done on a moving train while commuting
3. the time length was varied between 3-7 min.

Lets start todays sketching post with a little inspiration, Adam Hughes.

original magazine completion 3-7 min

todays quick painting in painter 53 min.

video demo condensed to 10 min with some ranting.
http://rapidshare.com/files/75093490/painterdemo12072007.rar

Well for the last 2 weeks i've been posting sketches here and i'm sure there are ppl who see my sketches and are like, wtf are those, this idiot cant draw...you're probably right..i cant, but whis section is for sketches, its intent is to allow ppl to share where ever they are, if youre a beginner or if youre the shit. Also i wanted to give ppl a chance who want to learn to develop good habits of drawing and posting everyday. I believe that is the only way to be great. Now ppl are discuraged when they see a sketchbook of a person like Adam Hughes and they think thats how they draw each picture everyday and everytime he picks up a pencil. HE may or he may not, but i've seen non commerical sketchbooks of artists just as good and you know what, some have good days some have bad days but all of them started out drawing sausage muscles and deformed feet, hands and faces.

Well to continue my rant, when you have put together a sizable leaf of sketches you look through them and you pick out one that has feeling or one that you can see where it needs to go to get completed. This is to change the pace and also to practice other tools and the marks that they make. Then go with it. Not every painting has to be a rembrandt or a michealangelo or a hyung-tae kim. but if you dont practice you can forget about being mentioned in the list.

btw it also builds confidence and speed.
