In the interest of bumping again so more people will post, I would also like to post this vid of my favorite, Jeff Loomis.
This is an entry he put in for a contest across all of Wisconsin when he was 16 years old! He won... (you can check his official website)
16 years old. Playing like this. Fuck.

This isn't really a big deal, it's just speed, not skill, there is nothing "difficult" in here except getting the speed. (yes, ofc speed is a skill to, but, you now what I mean.) Sweeping scales sounds harder than it is. He got some nice speed tho'. But hey, so does Michael Angelo Baito.
I have a thing for experimental guitarists, so I'll have to put Trace Bundy and Erik Mongrain up here.
Trace Bundy

I posted that video because he was doing that after only 5 years of playing guitar.
To me (Ive only been playing 2 years, so Im a noob) that's pretty good fucking ridiculous.
and MAB, well... he's clean, and he's very talented, that's for sure, but I dont listen to his music too much.

My favourite guitarists would be the following (in no particular order)
- Jimi Hendrix (The Jimi Hendrix Experience)
- Stevie Ray Vaughan (SRV and Double Trouble)
- John Frusciante (Red Hot Chili Peppers)
- Paul Gilbert (MR.Big)
- Hiroshi Shibasaki (abingdon boys school)
- Joe Perry (Aerosmith)
Off topic, but in my opinion, there should be no 'best' guitarist. I feel that using the word 'best' imposes a restriction on future generations of guitarist. Phrases such as 'Hendrix was the best guitarist ever', or 'Slash is guitar god' etc. sets a certain standard like 'Hey, you can't beat Hendrix, he is the best ever' (what defines 'best' anyway?). Everyone has their own tastes in music and music itself is an art form. There is no 'best' painter, and similarly, there shouldn't be a 'best' guitarist. I really am thankful that the OP had his topic called 'Favorite Guitarists' instead of 'Best Guitarist'.
tl;dr Thanks OP for good topic name.
