For future references, concentration advice?

Well a while ago I made a post regarding my insomnia one night. Well I pretty much didn't learn from my mistake and hyped up on tea and popped some pills so I could concentrate again. Now for future references, whats a good method of maintaining concentration without pills and perky drinks such as coffee and tea?

Focus on one thing that requires alot of concentration, it works for me, I was able to stay up 37 hours by playing games through the night.

I always blow shit off till the last day and I gotta finish round' ten pages to get a halfway decent mark. I'd rather not drug myself up every week. Once a month or so fine by me

Well there are many ways. These work for me:
For school related:
If you have lets say project due tomorrow, for me, that gets me concentrated enough cause I don't want a failing grade on it. Of course, that wouldn't be a problem if it was done earlier. But if you care about your grade, then your body should be able to stay up until the work is done. Basically what keeps you awake here is caring about your grade.
For leisure:
Remember when Halo 3 came out?(Dunno if you like that game) That game gets pretty addicting when playing on xbox live. Ranking up and getting hyped up over more hours of play should get you focused and with that time fly really fast. Seriously, I played and when I was done, it was like 4 in the morning and I started at 7 pm.

Locking myself into a room with nothing else except the work I need to get done really helps.
Make sure there are no computers, cellphones, DSs, TVs, manga, Rubik's Cubes or anything that can be a distraction in the room.

Well, concentration is depends on your mind. If you put your mind enough to something I believe you doesn't need caffeine or pills to help you stay. But in some case caffeine helps.

If it's just for writing papers, stay the hell away from electronics unless you wanna play some instrumental music and you're not the type to dawdle when you listen to it. If you're typing them out, disconnect from the internet at the very least. Otherwise, make sure that it's absolutely quiet. Earplugs are a godsend. Keep your desk or wherever else you do your work clean since clutter is really distracting and maybe even keep loose paper out of sight since those always lead to doodling for me.

Well for me to focus, sometimes I need music and sometimes I don't, I HAVE to be away from my PC most definately though :P well any electronic for that matter.

I totally understand what you mean. I think picturing the color Black in your head works.

OK then, I'll rephrase what I said from not thinking to thinking about pure darkness (the color you see with your eyes shut). Try it out next time you sleep. Works for me. :D

And now I will use the method I stated in Page 1 about concentration as I have about 5 hours of homework left to do due tomorrow.
Oh, and there's only 6 hours left today here in NZ. :? Oh well. Ganbate, me!

The more you try to maintain your concentration (after a longer period of time) the more you will fail. Going out for a lousy 30 minute walk can sometimes do wonders. Also caffeine alone (coffee or other shit) won't help you concentrate. It only pushes away sleep (to a degree) and gives a small energy boost - often causing even more exhaustion afterwards. If you really wanna stuff yourself with chemistry, magnesium and few other elements should be your aim. Lack of vitamins often also causes inability to concentrate but that ain't something you can replenish in one day.
