It seems like a really dumb decision, but people have to learn from their mistakes. And if it's making her happy, even if for just a short while, then she's got every right to take a shot at it.

a guy that's highest position is working at the customer service desk at Best Buy.
Given that the girl is 18, and the guy is slightly older (18-20)
He's 30
WHAT!!! and the best he's done in life working at the customer service desk at Best Buy. She need to break that off and he needs to go to college. I would say try and stop it but you know the old saying "True love conquers all" Damn though. I hope you will be able to convince her man and you have my support.

Makes me mad that people only think about the money. Yes, its important, but I'd rather be poor with a person I really love than fucking rich with a person I dont really love.
I wish I didnt get interested in reading about politics and financial stuff. Now I know how fucked up this world is. Everyone just wants money, and it seems that to most people money = happiness. And this thread just reminded me about it, you're really nothing unless you have the following by the age of 30: a really well paying job, a husband/wife, a child, your own house and a car or 2.
Now you shouldnt be conserned about the fact your friends getting engaged with someone who's work sucks. But the age difference is a different thing at least at that point. Usually 18 years olds and 30 years olds have different interests, different things they want to do and all that. There's a huge possibility they'll realize that they want totally different things from the next 10 years of their lives. Unless ofcourse that guy is still mentally like a teen, but thats not a good choice as a life partner either D:
