George Zimmerman acquitted

What do the fakkuzas think about this? Was this the right decision or did the jurors make a mistake?

If anything, the law should be changed. In accordance to the law he really was within his rights.

I think that he was in the right. Especially after that one witness who said that he saw them fighting with one of them pounding the other one's head into the ground. This proven from Zimmerman's scars. So, I think that it was the correct decision.

Everyone thinks of Zimmerman killing Trayvon as self defense. Wasn't what Trayvon did in self defense as well? Zimmerman started it and ended it and nothing happens to him. How does that make sense?

How does that make sense?Rachel's testimony clearly helped the defense, as it proved that before the conflict began, that Trayvon Martin was at his home, far away from Zimmerman. This meant that for the conflict to have taken place, TM clearly went back and instigated the conflict.
Unless you wanna make the absurd argument that Zimmerman went directly to his home, pestered him inside of his home and made him come out. So implausible that doubt is at the utmost high.
If the prosecution went for manslaughter from the start, it could have actually presented a case regarding that. But it didn't, for ratings and arrogance they set up a kangaroo court that actually went against them in the end.
Oh, and there's a difference in the type of manslaughter. Voluntary versus involuntary. If I were the prosecution, I would've went for involuntary and got an absolute conviction. They went for voluntary.
In the end, this wasn't murder nor voluntary manslaughter. At best, you can argue criminal negligence in having held the weapon in the first place. However, we don't know if Zimmerman first tried to meditate the issue. Nor are the witnesses credible(as seen with Rachel's testimony).
A Not Guilty verdict was probably best in these murky waters.

They both could have done things better to prevent Trayvon's death, but he does have the right to defend himself.

Whatever the truth was, it's not like Zimmerman is out of the fire. Possible vigilantes, wasted a year in court and stigma with a side daily of harassment is going to haunt him for a long time from this point.

This may be unpopular here, but i think Zimmerman should have gotten something. There is no way that incident should have ended the way it did
Also, his complete lack of remorse doesn't help me sympathize with him. Seriously, he said that he regrets nothing and that it was all part of gods plan, and only retracted that after he got shit for it

This was a very iffy trial, in my opinion. The lack of a solid body of evidence to either corroborate or refute Zimmerman's account of the incident leaves us with a lot of room to doubt what transpired that evening, but I think the decision was correct nonetheless. The lack of said evidence ultimately swung the outcome in Zimmerman's favor from the get-go, so unless the prosecution had pulled something out of their asses, the verdict shouldn't have come as a big surprise.
Trial aside, there's a part of me that wants to say that Zimmerman was indeed acting in self-defense during the fight. Regardless, I feel both of them had done some poor decision-making that night.

There are already massive congregations of people demonstrating their protest to the decision of acquitting the accused. Personally, I feel George Zimmerman shouldn't have gotten off for this.

I somehow feel like he should have gotten something, but there is no proof to prove without doubt that he intentionally killed him. So at least the law is working as intended.
From what I hear the prosecution was terrible so they probably should have done a good job if they actually wanted a verdict in their favor. So it's mainly their fault the jury ruled in favor of Zimmerman.

Agreed that the prosecution sucked big time. They went for all the wrong directions in order to prove Zimmerman as guilty.

The prosecution did a horrible job in their closing statements as well, appealing to the emotions of the jurors is not going to win a case in that situation.
I didn't realise this until my step dad pointed it out, but Zimmerman is actually going to be able to keep his license to carry a gun.

George Zimmerman was a wannabe cop, patrolling a gated community with a loaded gun. It was inevitable that he was gonna kill someone. I think it's worth considering why, as a member of the neighborhood watch, he had a gun, as opposed to a something like a taser. In his role, he had no authority to kill people, but that's what guns are used for. Tasers are used to subdue people. If he had a taser, he could run some electricity through Trayvon, subdue him, and wait for the cops, that he called, to get there.
At the point where the two interacted, he could have said he was the neighborhood watch and thought Trayvon was suspicious, so he was keeping an eye on him to make sure he wasn't doing anything illegal. Trayvon would have the opportunity to tell him that he went to the store to buy his nephew, or whatever, some Skittles and was headed back to his dad's house. Instead, something happened, there was some kind of fight, and George killed Trayvon. According to what he has said, there was absolutely nothing he could do while he was being viciously attacked. He didn't try to escape, but the second he had the opportunity to draw his gun, he just shot him in the chest.
Honestly, I don't think the prosecution gave a shit about the case. They made some good points with their witnesses, but they never actually presented a case against George Zimmerman.

This all goes to show how woefully unfair this world is.

The world is only unfair to those with expectations.

My opinion on this whole thing has been back and forth for awhile, but when it comes down to it it was Zimmerman's fault for approaching but martin could've ran off instead of fighting with Zimmerman...
and then the whole racial thing got involved and just made this bigger then it needed to be...but someone lost their life...but it was in self defense and its just terrible for everyone. someone lost their son, and the other has to hide with his family for the rest of their lives.
