George Zimmerman acquitted

He was just walking home from a party store. Not armed or anything Zimmo forced the confrontation was loosing the fight and when the oppertunity presented itself he pulled his piece and blew him away, point blank. He may have won this court battle, but I'm sure we haven't heard the last of this. He was racially stereotyped. And probably a wrongful death lawsuit in the works. Zimmo is probably gonna do some kind of jail time, for what is yet to be determined.

In fact if you payed attention, Zimmerman stopped tailing him (still talking to the dispatcher) and got of his car to get the street address he was in.
It was proven in court that not only did Martin loose him, but he went back to assault Zimmerman.(even the prosecution acknowledges this due to the overwhelming evidence)
It wasn't a "fight", which is why Zimmerman really didn't need to site "Stand Your Ground".
Also what do you mean racially stereotyped? Both Zimmerman and Martin are considered minorities.

That law could do with a bit of work, sure. But that's not relevant in this case and in this case it was in self defence while being assaulted. Kill or be killed. You're damned if you do and damned if you don't.

Never would I have thought in a million years that Cruz and I would stand together in the same side of a debate.
The basis of Stand Your Ground is based on the Castle Doctrine of the mid-20th century And in fact, going back centuries further with emperors and queens and their imperial guards. It was the elite, who above all wanted to defend their castle.
Secondly, the law itself wasn't invoked in the case. The State itself ruled that the law would be invalid for the purposes of the case. Zimmerman held justification under plain self-defense rulings.
Also, when you say it's "unavoidable", you have to be careful to take into account all sides of the story. We heard Rachel's testimony, and we know what Trayvon's thoughts were or at the very least Rachel's, who goaded him on.
As long as Zimmerman tried to defuse the situation, and his cries of help certainly clarify that then this is an open and shut self-defense case.

I didn't follow the trial too closely, but I did happen to watch a couple minutes here and there. The fact that Zimmerman got off free with nothing is ridiculous. The prosecution did a terrible job.
Also, correct me if I'm wrong but didn't they take DNA samples off of TM and stated there was no trace of Zimmerman's DNA anywhere? So shouldn't that (somewhat if not completely) discredit the witnesses testimony that TM attacked Zimmerman. Plus witnesses are not reliable as they either flat out lie, or mistake the identity of individuals. Just seems suspicious. Though to be honest everything about the trial just seemed off.
I've heard rumors that the case will be taken to the federal court which I think it should be.

The bottom line is that an unarmed teenager was blown away, and it was completely avoidable, it didn't have to happen. The stand your ground law is a license to kill and get away with it.
Was it avoidable? Yes. Zimmerman could have stayed in the car, Martin could have not returned to the scene to pound someone's face in. Heck Martin could have called the cops himself if he felt threaten when he stopped at his Grandpa's house(It was proven in court that Zimmerman stopped following and that Martin reached his home but went back).
Yes he wasn't armed, but to be honest, it really doesn't make a difference when you're beating someone's face into the pavement.
And as I said Zimmerman DIDN'T have to use Stand your Ground to win the case because it didn't apply to the situation.

1. It will not and should not be taken to federal court.
2. The prosecution didn't have much to work with since the evidence was overwhelmingly against them.
3. No they didn't. But the injuries on Martin where only 2 things. The gunshot wound and bruised knuckles.(that he got from beating someone's face in). It was proven in court that Martin instigated the "fight"(it honestly wasn't a fight) and that Stand your ground didn't and couldn't apply to him since Zimmerman stopped following him.
4. The only witness who was there before Zim shot the gun was on Trayvon's side but her testimony was shaky.

In truth though, I don't think many people would consider the case 20-30 years from now. Either way, both people should've just not gotten into the fight in the first place. I think there is little to gain for both sides
