Edit: Chrome is amazing, No shit it's basic, it's current release is still in beta.
Chrome is easily twice as fast at loading anything than Firefox, Opera, and maybe 3 times as fast as IE is, it's javascript engine is a lot quicker too as I tested the same script on both and the difference is VERY noticeable.
For developers it may be the best browser since it supports HTML5/CSS3 100% where as Firefox, and Opera do not, and IE doesn't support it at all, also the faster Javascript is a good thing too.
Also it now has plugin, and theme support if you use a dev build, but it's still beta so it's not that good, and the resources for it suck as it's still new, I've written a few plugins for myself to do some of the things I missed from firefox (RSS Support, Gmail, Custom Stylesheets, etc.)
I also love the way it gives each tab its own process, and it uses a lot less memory than any of my other browsers do.
Don't get me wrong, I love Firefox, and I still have it installed, and I do use it quite a bit as well. However Chrome is climbing up to my favorites quite fast.
As for the person who said Chrome opened IE, o.O not that I'm aware of, unless you have some odd setup, personally I don't even have IE installed anymore, if IE opened it's either because it's your default browser, or the link you clicked was forcing it to, don't know where it came from, but yeah.
I also love it's popup protection, and I never get popups in Chrome, I love the way it does the popup notifications as well.

Now that i today started testing this Google Chrome, i kind of like it, but i've noticed in few places, middle click page for a new tab does not work.
Instead it either loads the middle clicked page into same tab or then it makes a new tab, but also loads the same page into the current page as well.
Aside from that, i haven't found any that bad things from this.
This is indeed pretty good browser and i still have firefox installed, and while installing was a good thing that it could copy the bookmarks and stuff from firefox ^^
Also this has bit more screen for the browsing page vertically than Firefox =o
EDIT: another nice thing is that it doesn't have own window for downloads like Mozilla does
EDIT2:
Noticed in some of my posts having some of the last texts missing my darkred color:
Mostly after spoilers
EDIT3: It also seems to mess up some picture which im downloading one by one; it sometimes leaves the .jpg off from the end of the name and then instead of the picture's name (e.g. t06_1.jpg) and takes an earlier part of the url where the picture is (e.g. 5c5e8d79f30087b56f5825fae538c8f53202e0d2-215153-900-1200-jpg)
=o
Final EDIT:
I've come to conclusion Firefox is much better. Indeed this Chrome works kinda faster than Firefox, but it has lot of cons of different stuff like image saving (it does not know the format) and some site's coding is not working so correctly.
So i unfortunately say Firefox>Chrome, for now at least =/

Not if you run the beta/dev release it's not. They are unstable (hence beta), the public release is "Stable" but it's still new as hell.
Infact it's like 2 major versions behind the beta build.

I was using Firefox since 2005 and I finally starting using Chrome actively in 2010. Once it finally got add ons, I was all over it. Firefox has also been crashing more and more, and I'm infamously known for having a boatload of tabs open at once which always made Firefox choke up (and I always had 4GB of RAM, suppose I could use more). Anyway, Chrome can keep up with me. And it rarely, if never, crashes on me.
ONLY negative is that I keep getting all of the pesky video ads on a lot of sites that I visit (I use Chrome's AdBlock). Firefox's AdBlock seems to shoot them all down so I don't have to suffer through ads that aren't even sightly related to the site.
