Well, yeah. i had a long distance relationship with a girl from switzerland. But it didn't work out. After 9 months she told me, she was in love with someone, who lived near her. At this moment I cried allmost the whole day. I should be happy, that she told me that before i went to her. But it's still sad. And yeah, i would like to be in a relationship. But no more in so far distance.

Worked well for a few years, even visited her for three weeks once, but in the end I'm still alone. Still, happiest time of my life, so vote goes for the first option.

No. I've dated somebody three years my junior, though. Biggest mistake of my life, and a lesson was learned: relationships suck, and I can do anything sexual to myself better than anybody else can, so there's no reason to put up with other people.

I was in a long distance relationship for 4 years in high school. It didn't work out, would never do it again. I am now in a relationship with somebody from the same city as me and it is much more rewarding. This happened around the time Fakku was down (reference to the Fakku is down poll). Anyway, moral of the story is that I learned the hard way how long distance relationships don't work. I don't mean to poop on anyone's parade (lol) but if a long distance relationship drags on for more than a year, one of you should move closer or both of you should call it quits. This is of course assuming both of you are adults.

I just got out of one. We were together for a year I was considering proposing. I thought I had found the girl of my dreams but then she just stopped caring. Like Heigen1 said unless you intend to move closer you should call it quits. Being apart for that long just isn't good for a relationship.

They never work out unless you actually start living with the person after some time or interacting in real life on a daily basis, basically the longer the long distance thing lasts lesser the chances that it works out. In any case if youre in one better not get your hopes high preferably.
