10 Hours in Phoenix waiting for a midnight flight where it was delayed for an hour and a half and after stopping in Georgia for a layover added another 6 hours, but I enjoy traveling, so it was fun sleeping with my bag between my arms and legs at the airport.

Been stuck in like 6 different airports. Times ranging between just 1 hour and around 7 hours. If its around 6 hours or longer I'll usually check out the area around the airport instead of just sitting and waiting.

I got stuck at SFO in 2005 trying to get to Texas to help with Huricane Rita relief for the Red Cross. The ticket person miss spelled my name.

I'd just like to point out that there is a tree growing on top of that plane. Is that even possible? Presumably, there would have to be soil with nutrients inside of the plane, but I don't think that there is any way the roots could penetrate the metal in the first place. I'm calling hacks.
On-topic: I've been stuck in too many airports to count. Traveling does that. I feel sorry for you.

I do. If i remember correctly, the longest time was 8 hours in Madeira back in 2001. More recently, around 4 hours in Malta. Hard to kill time, except if you have good games to play ^^

I was trying to get home from Philadelphia to San Francisco from college, the flight was going to take off around noon East Coast time at come in at SF around 9pm West Coast time if I remember right. So I head on down to the airport and I think I've got a good hour before my flight needs to leave so plenty of time to get through security... Only when I'm checking my bags one of them is just like, 2 lbs too heavy and I have to be charged extra for it... Only I don't have enough to pay for the bag either in cash or on the debit card I was given before heading off.
So I try to call my mom in San Francisco, but all I get is the answering machine... So I start panicking while I wait for a reply and the departure time gets closer and closer until finally, I get a call from my mom, very understandable annoyed, but she tells me, luckily for me, that she forward some extra cash to the debit card's account. So I finally pay for my bags and start to head towards security, panicking like hell cause I think it's 10 minutes before my flight leaves without me when I notice the sign above me saying the flight was delayed an hour... Couldn't help but think 'oh how nice thank you universe'.
So, I get through security fairly easily, get a bite to eat, and head towards my gate... And then I hear over the speaker system that my flight still haven't arrived from where it was coming from cause of storms... I slowly realize that this cannot be good around the 5th time they say the arrival of the flight is delayed. So, we finally get to about 4 pm on the east coast when the plane finally comes in, however we can't get on yet cause the pilot's fly time has run out. So we have to wait two more hours and we think we'll finally get on... but no... turns out the pilot that was on his way for the last TWO HOURS just ran out of fly time, almost like he ran out of fly time DURING their walk from wherever the fuck they were to the gate.
So, we wait another hour OUTSIDE of the plan until finally they realize how stupid that is and they finally let us onto the plane. An hour later (so it's 9 pm EST by now) we finally get a pilot for our flight straight from Philly to SF... Oh wait did I say non-stop flight? Cause haha, guess what? This pilot doesn't have enough fly time to get us all the way there, so we first have to make a stop... And because of this we have to wait another half hour for them to remove some of the plane's fuel (Why? I still don't know). So, we're finally in the air, we get to our unscheduled stop and guess what? You remember when we had to remove some fuel in Philly? Well turns out when we removed that fuel we ended up not having enough fuel to get to San Francisco. So we have to wait another 30 minutes to re-fuel along with an hour of waiting for the next pilot.
So, by the time we get home, it's about 5 am west coast time... worst, delayed, flight, ever.

I've never even been inside an airport, let alone fly. Would like to try it sometime, when I have money and time.

I've not flown much, but the longest delay I've had was about an hour and a half. Just sat in a seat and read a book. One of the dresden novels.

I am convinced that I will never leave this place.Someone right now is probably thinking "just as planned."
I've flown twice and they were only from really small airports so never had any issues.
