How Do You Like Your Fries?
0
I've eaten at a lot of fast food joints and greasy spoons and in that time I've noticed that there are lots of different ways of making fries. There's a particular way I like my fries, but it wasn't until receiently that I really thought about which elements make a good french fry. (for me at least)
1. It need to have had the potato skin taken off. (I don't like potato skins in any form)
2. Needs to be the right colour. I like them to light golden in colour, I don't know if its because of the oil they fry it in or the kind of potatos, but the deeper a shade of brown the fry is the worse it tastes.
3. Thickly cut. Thin fries are okay but the best fries are thick cut.
4. The fries should have the right about of grease remaining. I find that if there is still an oily sheen on the fries then there is still too much grease.
What about you guys? How do you like your fries?

I like my fries to be made straight at home.
We get potatoes, slice 'em up, fry them in vegetable oil until they are golden brown.
And then we drown it in salt, delicious, delicious salt.

I'll eat my fries in any way, as long as it doesn't have mayo. *shudders*
Apparently, fries are big in Belgium. So I got to try many fries combinations this past week.

the adequately amused
- They need to be crunchy
- Skins aren't a must but they are preferred
- They need to be larger than Fast Food chips
- Preferably golden brown
- Lightly salted
- And with BBQ sauce or burger sauce to dip them in
I also like potato wedges.
- Skins on
- Golden brown
- Salted and peppered
- Ketchup or burger sauce as dip

I prefer the thicker, mealier french fries like the ones from Burger King/A&W.
I also like diner-style fries [which have a slightly-less crispy texture, with a small bit of the natural skin on the tip] topped with grated garlic. It's very tasty.

Fries originated in Belgium so it would probably be common to see them there.

The fries from In-N-Out Burger. Potatoes are peeled onsite, fried in vegetable oil. Animal style is the best; grilled onions, cheese, and 1000 Island dressing poured over them. Delicious.

thicker cut

maybe old bay, but light old bay seasoning, I don't want to eat a fry and ask if there was a a potato or just seasoning
I like em fried crispy, a little darker than golden brown, so each bite has a crunch
if it can stand alone without sauce, that would be ideal, but I like either ketchup, a frosty/soft serve ice cream, syrup (don't hate until you try it!), honey mustard....if paired with something that uses a dipping sauce, I use that.
