How many of us Otaku's have musical talent?

I am a tromboner (and the person who first said this to me meant it in the most innocent of ways, I being the pervert that I am, got a kick out of it) because really to play this instrument all you need to do is move the slide back and forth and blow. (guys should be experts at this, told that to my fellow male trombonists and they just stared at me, I guess they didn't expect a sex joke out of little ole innocent me) Seriously, I've been playing since seventh grade, so that's like 15 years, though I've stopped playing, I will be picking it right back up again when I go back to school. Music runs in my family, my mom was in chorus, my older brother also played trombone and my little sisters are in chorus, and we await to see where my little brother will go. Will he follow his elder brother and sister into band or go sing....better be in band or we'll kick his ass!!!

I can sing a little bit though, I'm ok, but not confident in singing really.

Edit: I miss playing music!!! You have no idea how much fun I had playing the music we did. Though my favorites were StormWorks which was some of the hardest and coolest music I ever played and anything by John Williams the BRASSMAN's GOD!!! I stole the first trombone part for the Star Wars Trilogy music. Like I was going to turn that in, not a chance in HELL!!!

I like to sing at times. Mostly on tunes from the thirties, like Bobby Darin, Frank Sinatra, and the Ink Spots. I usually used to sing silently to myself in school, for songs like:

-Fly Me to The Moon
-I Don't Want To Set The World On Fire
-Beyond The Sea
-Dream

I usually forget some of the lyrics halfway through, unfortunately.

Bass is my main instrument. The big thing for me is branching out my style as much as possible. I've learned and written stuff ranging from classical to thrash metal. And speaking of Otaku music skills, people love it when I start playing stuff like Hare Hare Yukai or any Super Mario Bros. songs

Trust me, the violin is much easier than any guitar, and I would know because I play both. With the violin, you normally don't even have to worry about playing multiple notes until you're at the intermediate level, but with the guitar, it's all about the chords which I can't remember for the life of me.

I guess I sing decently.

I also can play the violin but its been awhile. Havent played it for nearly 6ish years, so I'm a bit rusty.

Not I. I am functionally tone-deaf. Not actually tone-deaf just functionally.

I can play the guitar, piano and I am somewhat skilled in percussion.

I can read musical notation, and know the basic theory (chords, intervals, scales etc).
My aural skills are at the moment limited to recognizing chromatic intervals covering an octave up.

I am actually planning on trying to get admitted to a conservatory after my current schoolform.

So... I deem myself as pretty "musical".

Ah, but in this forum, there you err. Seem's like a decent amount of us actually do have musical/artistic talent.

I'm proud of my voice and I can play the guitar and drums.

I used to be able to play the piano, but lost interest in it and now I've practically forgotten everything 'cept Yankee-Doodle and the Rugratz theme.

I enjoy my singing, 'nuff said.

I can play the piano ( I am more of the classical type XD I enjoy playing chopin's songs even though they are freakishly tough, I hate all 20th century music... their composers have no ear XD) and some bit of a guitar and all precussion instruments, if you consider the voice an instrument, then I also sing >.>

Come on now, you can't make a blanket statement like that. To simply write off an entire century of music is irrational.

In the span of 100 years, trillions upon trillions of notes are put together in some order. To say that absolutely none of those alignments of notes have any harmony whatsoever is ludicrous.
You're worse than traditionalists who say music died in the 60s.
It didn't die, good music is just harder to find.
