I went to one but it wasn't all that fun because I don't have a costume and I went alone, next time I hope to go to one with a costume and with a group of friends.

I've been to 17 cons so far, 18 if you count Anime Conji this month. ^^; I've been going to cons since 2007, and there's a lot of cons to choose from in CA (especially SoCal).

I'm surprised with such a low percentage of attendance. Personally, I've only been to one - simply because I got into that one for free (school club paid lol). Would go again, but no more club (people to go with)/free admission.
Oh, and it was at Anime North.

meh, I've only been to one con and I wouldnt go again unless I had a lot of money to spend, otherwise the vendor hall just wouldnt be worth it. Im sure I'd find some cool people there, but said cool people would be vastly overshadowed by narutards and the like, the kind of people who go "XD omg thats so kawaii *glomp*,pocky". Way too many teenagers, I just wouldnt feel comfortable, makes me wonder what anime conventions in the 80's were like...

I like the community here but I'm not so sure I could fit with that crowd, literally and figuratively.

Iv ben to one con, though iv gone to it twice, con's are extremely fun, yes there are alot of naruto fans and main stream animes, but who cares? Educate there anime experience by going, have fun , cosplay and buy some shit when you got the money. I'm broke right now but I'm going to try to go to a con next month in Tampa Florida, it's the khaotic kon, it begins April 13th and runs till the 15th

I've had opportunities to go, but i just wasn't up for it at the time. It's cool and all but right now, it doesn't really interest me. Maybe in the future i will check em out.

I've been to Otakon and Katsucon for the last 4-5 years or so. Personally, while the conventions overall are very entertaining, and the goods they sell are very varied, it is extremely difficult to look for long term friends, etc from the conventions. Also...after a while, the conventions do take a toll out of you - ie the games are always similar types, cosplayers are good looking but are at times stuck up, etc. I "know" a few people that I've met at the cons as well (an artist/crafter named "Feb", a popular cosplayer by the name of FoxyKitsune, and one other cosplayer who's actually the cousin of a current co-worker) but I don't really converse with them as much as I could - they are very much into their "Anime" lives and don't really do much outside that circle.
I do really wish that there is a place outside of conventions where people who go to conventions can meet up, but for myself personally (Adult, over 30's, work as a government contractor, have other hobbies besides anime) a lot of the sites I've checked out are just not for me (Limited age group, converse immaturely, limited subject matter). If anyone can put out some info on where I can go to find like-minded anime lovers/aniime convention goers who are not just into anime, who branch out to other things, etc, please post, much appreciated.

In Finland cons like these aren't so big and rather boring actually. But of course there are fun times :) one my friends is a big name in finnish cosplay groups and that's likely thing why I'd go to these cons. Also years and years back there was on publish of my own manga in there. Still finland needs more internationalist anime/manga cons that have real spark! And of course booth for doujinshi artist.
