I just recently had a break up with my gf and since then I've been thinking in what's the best way to overcome it.
I was thinking in recreational therapy or maybe fapin my ass off at fakku but a friend of mine told me that the best way o overcome a break up is to get yourself a new girl even though you don't really love that other person just to help you make time past faster so the question is:
what do you think is the best way to overcome break ups?

Fap. Put your mind on other girls to keep yourself occupied and it'll hopefully go away. Also, think of the reason why you thought of the break up in the first place. Was it because she got bored of you? If it is, then you shouldn't be depress in the first place and build up confidence that she doesn't deserve you.
That or a couple of beers.

Drink, plot strategy, then involve yourself in a safe recreational therapy and then go look for another GF.

Well first of all do not listen to your friend because then you'll just end up dumping your pain onto another girl. Now there is a saying "Time heals all wounds." From personal experience, I was totally gugu(no pun intended) for this girl.
But she left me after we had a fight, and everyday my heart was in pain. I did things to get my mind off it during the day such as work, sports, gaming, and ect. But at night I would remember the pain, but as time went by, every night the pain lessened until the day I finally got over her and realized there are plenty of fish in the sea and started my life as a new man.
In short, we all go through some pain, we just have to fight through it, and become better people.
Don't think of this as a total fail. In life we take the good with the bad. If we never really know what sorrow is, we could never really know what happiness is, could we? The temporary pain you have now, will only help you realize how truly happy you can be when you move on.
I hope this helped in any way possible.

Exercise your creativity. Draw, write, make music. If you don't know how to do any of these three or haven't done them recreationally, take one up in a serious way and put all your energy into learning how.

Yeah, your friend's suggestion isn't that wise... however some people do turn to casual sex, as long as you can have a sexual relationship without any emotion attached to it.
But honestly the best thing to do is make a list of short term goals and work on that. Try to turn your life around. That's the best way to get over a lost love. Try things that you have never tried before. Enjoy the perks to being single! And know that there are plenty other fish in the sea. =3

Lol. How to overcome break-ups? Hm. I dunno. I usually overcome them while doing something fun, without realizing it! Time and space just makes things happen that make you forget the pain of a break-up. ^^

thanks everyone though i guess recreational therapy is the best i think i'll try it the hard way first(a couple of beers and some sex with a random extranger)
Thanks

Just wait, love isn't eternal. Go out drinking with some friends and you'll find yourself in the arms of someone else in no time.

Wow, Ive been through a lot of these.
Alright, well what I do is spend time with my close friends. Spending time around the people that you know you can trust really helps make it easier to get back out there. I think it just confirms that youve always got someone to fall back on, a support system. Family time works well too.
You just have to assure yourself that you have someone who will always be there for you, even when that certain she/he isnt.

yea just a little update the whole go out drinking with friends doesn't really work when all your friends are on medical school and not going out at all also affect's the chances of meeting someone new.
I really need to give it a shot to the ocupational therapy

Try to pick up a sport! if your at home all the time it will just become lonely and with lonely will come thoughts of missing your ex and it would just make you feel more sad>< Try to pick some activities where there will be other people to meet, maybe a team sport or play and instrument and join a band or join an art class... or even dancing lessons! By playing with friends you will also have someone to smile to when you feel happy inside!=) Dont be afraid to express what you feel inside and speak whats on ur mind to friends too, it will help releive tension and stress built inside the body and you will also feel that there are still people around you who cares:)
Or you could also talk to us here and we can keep you company^_^

No doubt breaking up will leave a permanent scar on you, though you will forget about it once you find new love. Those things just happen and the fact that she broke up means you two aren't suited for each other in the first place. It's better to do so now then to get married and have a divorce later.
When I broke up I masturbated till I got tired of it. Just spend some time around the internet to kill boredom. If you are busy doing things all day long chances are you won't think about it anymore.

I've always found it hard to understand this extreme feeling of sadness that overcomes people when they break up with people. I just turn amazingly stoic and on a long time project for ages until I "get over it". But sadness no I end up having a lack of emotions. To "overcome break ups" is different in each inherit sitaution and dependant on what kind of person you are. If you're extraverted I would advise going to parties, Being even more social than normal even if you don't feel like it will easily break you out of it and in most cases you will most likely laugh it off. If you're introverted Read a book do something you like. To be honest the most simple way to "overcome" break ups is to simply do the things you like most(that don't include said person)

I think it's just a individual personality thing, but also how long the relationship was. My last relationship was 4 years and I'll tell you it was extremely depressing trying to get over it.

The only thing I'd suggest though is for those that are more introverted (like myself) that they should also on occasion try to get out, as being by yourself you tend to take longer to heal from a breakup.

Depending on the length of time of said relationship, let's say years, one can find it really hard to remember how and what he/she did before they were even in a relationship.
I know it really sucks (really I can relate) but this is the period of time where you can find out more about yourself.
Who you really are without that significant other and to really change and grow for the better and come out stronger so when you do find the next person, he/she is the person that deserves you.
Sorry for the rambling response lol, lack of sleep here :P
