Humans vs Aliens

If Aliens came to planet earth would we be able to survive/repell there invasion and save are Species if they came and launched a ground base invasion while taking out every nations mass destructive weapons. Just like in alien movies would we or could we realisticly win and repell and if not survive ? Why would they come and for what reason would there be for them to engage are species ? Also what Nations would they attack if they for whatever reason descided to launch a full scale ground invasion on planet earth.

It depends how smart the aliens even are. If they were intelligent and discovered us before we did them, they would probably destroy us. They might try to work with us even.

If they can travel all the way to earth through a wormhole or the like wouldnt that atoumaticaly make them more advance then us ?

[align=justify][color=green][font=verdana]Is this actually a serious question? I'll put it as bluntly as possible - we would not stand a chance. Their technology would be thousands of years more advanced than ours. I mean, they traveled through space to our planet - we can't do that. It'd be like fighting nuclear weapons with sticks, and that's being generous.

What about implimenting Gurreila warfare tactics ? What if its like what this poster is saying ''If extraterrestrials were advanced enough to transverse intergalactic space, then why would they bother trying to take over our planet for resources? I mean, surely they would have mastered a more efficient form of replenishable energy like dark energy or something. Would they really come to earth to fill up their gas tank?
I don't agree with Stephen Hawkins' warning entirely either. If they're more technically advanced, then some of them may also be more ethically advanced. In the same manner that many humans are more conscious about diversity as well as animal rights now than a few centuries ago, so maybe some ETs may have room for ethical consideration of humans. On the other hand, given the diversity of potentials in humans, there could be ETs ranging from benevolent, to malevolent, to entirely indifferent'' by Straw dog From Religous education fourms.
''I suppose it depends on how great the difference is in intellect, etc. If they're closer to our level, then we might just seem like stupid apes rather than cockroaches. If they're greatly evolved way far beyond us, then they may have perfected survival and be indifferent to us. Like I said, there would probably be a variety of different species and each would react to our existence differently. I hope not to be wiped out by malevolent ETs, but as far as dying goes, that would be a pretty sweet way to go out''. From the Same poster.

There probably still way more advance than us and me might put up a slightly good fight but lose is inevitable.

I see. It sucks that some people think that we would be able to actually win a battle with Aliens.I mean my littlre cousin no my whole familly basically thinks that If Alens came they wouldnt be as strong military wise etc AKA my little cousin or how my uncle some how thinks that since it we would be first contact we would some how survive or the Aliens wouldnt be advance etc.

[align=justify][color=green][font=verdana]Imagine a war between the current United States of America and... let's say... the Middle Age European countries. Would that be a close "fight"? No - the US has nuclear weapons, explosives and guns at their disposal, whereas the Middle Age Europeans only have shields, swords and the like. It'd be like that, only to a higher extreme. We wouldn't be able to put up a fight.
Let's assume they're a more advanced human and they had a history similar to ours. Someone gets a stone and uses it as a weapon. What happens? Someone gets a jagged stone. Then what? Someone gets a spear. Then what? Someone gets a slingshot. Every weapon over time finally gets succeeded by something else, or even gets a counter. Sword gets blocked by shield, as bullet gets blocked by riot shields. Just imagine that over thousands of years. Our weapons would easily be overcome by a counter or more powerful weapon.

If we threatened them, they could just fight from space. THEY have the advantage of not being on home turf. They want to destroy something? Just fire a shot at an important building. It's not like it can move or anything. See an attack coming? Move while it takes its time to reach you. IF it's allowed to be set up in the first place. Need to refuel or need more weapons? Go to Mars and call in someone to give them what they need. Basically, we'd be screwed if they decided to fight us with our current technology.
I don't really think this belongs in here, though. Random is more along the lines of the area this thread should be in.

Dude, if aliens come to earth then that means they have FTL and be so far advanced we'd look like chimps. They could just attack from space and what can we do?
Despite what movies say, we'll be steam rolled.
Independence Day was retarded because the alien computers apparently ran on Windows 95.
Also, not a serious topic.

We're done for, being able to travel through space that far is already something, and I'm expecting their weapon wouldn't be as shit as Nuclear, it would be something on a whole another level. Nuclear would probably means nothing but stick and stone for them.

So what do you guys make of Nutron bombs ? So a tactical nuke assault on there mother ship if they stupidly decided to stray into above earth orbit. Oh and sorry guys for putting this in the serious disscuson thread I just thought it sought warrented a serious disscusion but if you guys want to move it in to random by all means please move it.

If aliens came here tomorrow, we would be fucked. There are no pretty words. At least in the science fiction universe we have a few colonies to escape to and make our last stand. However, life is not science fiction. It is non-fiction. We have no colonies to run. They would come down to the surface of our planet, and play with us. Sure, maybe we'll find a way to kill them. But will that really matter? By the time we manage to kill a few, the moment they get tired of playing with their food they will just start an orbital bombardment.
In War of the Worlds, the only reason we survived is because they were not immune to our bacteria. I highly doubt that an invading force would be so stupid as to not do an atmospheric scan, and even then overlook the bacteria thing. In Halo we have a battalion of super soldiers and their strongest warriors join us when they have a civil war. Do you think we'd be so lucky for them to have a civil war in the middle of bombing us into oblivion or slavery?
Say we fired nukes, nutron bombs, hell, we magically have antimatter bombs within the next few years. You don't think their accuracy will be pinpoint? Even if we did have antimatter bombs, they would be so ridiculously expensive that we would only have a small few, maybe 10 or 12 at most and that even if we did fire them off and hit them and somehow manage to hit them we would only kill a few of them.
Only a stupid race of alien species that rely on brute strength would have a "mother ship". In all reality they would come at us with a fleet. Then there is a chain of command. You don't get that far in technology without having set up a chain of command. "Oh no, they blew up our Capital Ship. Oh wait, I'm in charge now? We still outnumber them. Annihilate them." Mother ships have been in the movies because the producers knew it would be too far fetched for us to take down a whole fleet.
Then don't forget, the Human race is filled with an abundance of idiots sadly. Do you really think that we would truly pull together? Do you really think that Al-Quaida will work with us "infidels"?
Edit:
Oh I forgot, do you think we would be saved by a race of self-aware robots or another alien species? Don't forget, us Earthlings live at the galaxy's fringe. There is a reason why we have a lack of traffic.
I believe that if we were closer to the Core, we would be much more advanced and know our neighbors already.

So the liklyhood of another species deciding to help us because the invading alien species inslaved them or something is not very feasable uh ? So we really would be screwd ?
0
Of course nothing else would help us. Why would a species or alliance waste some resources protecting a helpless and completely inferior civilization? Even If they did, it's possible that they just wanted the remaining resources on the planet and will take it as "payment" for their help. If we resisted, they could just kill us instead. It's not like we'd be able to put up a fight against someone who just beat someone that was destroying us. Unless the bigger fish were benevolent and was perfectly okay with making enemies that could potentially destroy them for no reason, we'd be screwed either way.
There is no Deus ex Machina in reality. Unless there's a massive rebellion that the attackers have to suppress, we'd have little to no chance of surviving. Even then, they'd just come back after they suppressed the attackers. We would also be still be under-prepared for it, since it's not like we can actually win against something superior in every single way.

So who's to say a massive rebellion wouldnt happen like with the fall of the roman empire ? multiple attacks from all directions etc. Those who dont learn from history are doomed to reapeat it as the old saying gose and Im sure if they are like any other sentient being and yes im using humans as a blue print/base in the history if they had anything like the fall of empires over the millinum of years and they dont heed such lessons any other species they have conquered or are currently engaging will come back with avengence.
Also Foreground Eclipse wouldnt it be more likly that we would band together against a commen enemy to inssure the human species survival ? After all since Humans are a tribal species at its vey core minus instinct lol we would proablly band together since mass xenophobia from Alien invasion and the parinoa that will come about you cant bet your salary that Humanity will find away to band togther putting aside diffrences and attempting to kick toushy

However, here's the thing: They don't have our history. They can't learn from our mistakes without knowing they existed. If they are truly evil, they should be smart enough to take care to finish any genocides they start. Not quite hunting them down to the last man, but certainly not enough to allow a rebellion of survivors that couldn't be finished in 24 hours. They also wouldn't even need much firepower, since their technology overpowers ours by loads if they have space travel. If we were to hit even one of them, we'd need to target enough nukes to permanently destroy a large area, since they aren't going to be stupid enough to get hit by any powerful attack if they can avoid it. And keep in mind that they would've had to go a loooooong way to get here. They won't be slow. Even in a rebellion, they could just send inexperienced soldiers here to train on us.
On top of that, what if they have EMPs? Unless their armour is made out of something much, much weaker than what they make their spaceships out of, bullets and rockets can just be shrugged off. Otherwise, they'd have died to space travel tearing their ship apart. This is all assuming that they get off on conquering planets, mind you. If we try and take more than we are allowed, or kill one of them when they don't mean any harm because we're too cautious, then they may not even bat an eyelash (or whatever that will be for them) over destroying us. Sure, there may be some problems with their civilization afterwards, but we're all dead by that time anyway. After all, nobody seems to mind when someone crushes a bug, right? That's what it would be like to them.

Will in all likely hood with all the movies, documentaries etc I have seen all the world goverments who have a the luck of capturing an Alien will that would spell bad news for us especially if we pull of some crap from the movie District 9 etc....Oh and LoL about the bug thing since if you think about it were like ants and will whens the last time you tried talking to an ant or even cared ? Now place us in the postion of the ant and the Aliens in the postion of the humans. Yep we would be screwed especially if they have a fast technological growth rate.LOL...oh the joys of living as a human.....
Would it be wise to send inexperience soilders to earth ? What if those soldiers FUCK UP ?

No, not ants. Ants are powerful in numbers. They're actually very exceptional beings. It's just that they're so small that it's usually not noticed. It's rather likely that one would lose to a colony or two of ants attacking at once. I'd go more along the lines of bumble bees.
