Our own history is FULL of instances where a technologically superior culture invades an inferior one.

Human beings are animals that have learned to think and reason. Throw in a bit of fear and paranoia and many lose that reasoning. Only about 2% of people are prepared to kill. The chance of you (not directly you) shooting me in self defense to KILL is very low. People watch too many movies and think that it's as easy as shooting someone in a limb or knocking them out in one it. It isn't.

If you (again, general populace here, not you directly) see an alien coming towards you or a Walker, most likely you're not even going to move. It's called Frozen with Fear for a reason. You'll stand there until you get roasted or you'll turn tail and run too late. Or, you'll be part of the two percent and would have already taken cover and try to not the let screams of death and destruction break you and turn the gun onto yourself.

Well we can all debate about the likely but to sit here and damn our entire species is a bit ignorant. To sit here and ponder all the possibilities would take a while. Let's go for a few
1. They may have highly advanced transportation but grew up in a way that did not lead to weapons development
2. They may be highly advanced but unable to breathe oxygen
3. They may be creatures able to move through space with the IQ of a bird
4. Every bit of property they own may be highly susceptible to, my personal weakness, bullets.
5. They may come here about to destroy us, decide we're hilarious how we fight amongst ourselves and let us continue to destroy each other (might be happening now).

Improbable? Maybe....impossible? No.

So do you think that with there advance weaponary and ships all of are weapons would be ineffctive ? That includes any suicide attemps like in that one scene from Indpendance day ? What if they want to fuck with us for a while and desided to go the rout of the Preadtor Alien etc ? That gives us some chance to recopurate and come up with something that could eventually be effective right ? Plus if they use metal armor etc whose to say bullets wouldnt get pentrate them ?

It only worked in Independence Day because we happened to have one of their ships. Which for them to not have updated their ships at all in 50 years is retarded. It wouldn't work because we wouldn't even be able to get close before getting blasted into subatomic particles.

Hm..But if theres a ground invason and they have some form of metal armor are weapons mostly projectals IE guns could be effect,but then again im being insanly optomistic.

I don't know if you've read any of the Halo books, but anyone who has played the games know this: On ground, we have a chance of winning that is if they have actual soldiers on foot and are not all in giant tanks. In Space however, we would have no chance. Oh, we managed to push back the enemy. No, they're just falling back to obliterate us from the sky. Depending on the race, they may not even pull their troops back. They will rain death upon us in a downpour regardless of we are next door to their ground troops or not.

So what your saying Foreground Eclipse is that they wouldnt think of having aromor like force feileds or anything like that if they planned for a full scall ground invasion ? We would then beable to effctivly defeat this threat with bullets etc and they would have not thought to scan or observe us so that they could have counters to all are weapons ? A species that can travel towardes earth for whatever reason wou;d not have multiple counters for are tech ? That sounds really dumb to me since even if theywhere advance they would more than likly be smart enough to scan the planet etc to find out the best way to counter all are tech so as to not get caught off gaurd with some random flock happeing and us winning. Hm seems like this would be a good argument fo those on the side of the Aliens.


Now as for us Humans we could proablly use bio warfare or more low tech weapons if they do not have any type of force feild during a ground invasion if said Aliens would even descided to implement one.So we could conciveablly win even though its slim and the chance are - 00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000.1 for us and like and Infinit for the Alien Invaders.

Oh and I have not read the Halo Books.Played one and two and am gonna play Halo 4 when it comes out though.

It depends, since you imply they are invading, that means they are warlike, similar to us, however I am sure it would depend on many factors other than that simple aspect. They are advanced enough for long distance space travel but are they stupid? are they limited with weapons? Would my cat be able to take one unarmed? If they are mansized, with man smarts and tech hundreds of years in the future, we would be fucked. If they looked like kittens, and all they had were their overstated razor sharp little claws, there might be neosporin shortages but we would be fine.

I never said effectively. Just because I said there is a minor chance of pushing a foe back doesn't mean it won't be without cost. That cost is going to be a lot of bodies on our side. A weapon is as good as the user makes of it. If they came in without scanning us, it wouldn't be an invasion. It would be recon and a raid for them. Like I said earlier, you don't get that far in technology without setting up a stable military doctrine.

And Im not saying that there wont be losses either but with all the tech we have stashed away like rail guns and whoe else knows what we could at the ver lease shoot a couple of emps in to space as will as the earths entire nucular arsenal and whil we just nutron bomb (If we dont all ready have Nutron bombs)where ever there at on earth.Anyways we would have home field advantage and in war that counts for a lot. Wonder what nations they would attack first in a all out ground invasion ? Proablly Us,China,Europe,Russia,Canda and Australia.... Then the rest of the world would be seriously FUCKED.

Neutron Bombs would be mostly ineffective to enemies in orbit since they would already have radiation shielding in order to travel through space. Using a Neutron Bomb on surface would be suicidal and cause more harm than it would do good for us. As for the "Home Field Advantage", yes, it has been proven that soldiers fighting on their home turf fight harder. The fact that they would already be parked in orbit though means they would have already have taken out our satellite systems which would render us deaf and blind and knock us back by about 50yrs in technology back to radio waves and morse code, which personally I do not know anyone else besides myself (excluding military forces) who know it. My mother didn't even know what morse code was.

Wait so if Aliens come wouldn't they be like millions of years more advance then Humans. Plus there would be no mother ship it would just basically set up in a structure more then likely akin to any modern day army probably. Plus if they where truly studying us would they not have a means or way to about every military aspect under the sun that we could or would possibly have ?
