Rage? Your comment looks pretty civil and nice to me. :D
I only have one thing to say regarding what you want, schmitty. The tablet that you want already exists and has existed for a long time. http://www.axiotron.com/index.php?id=modbook
I already stated the purpose and the appeal of the iPad, which is different to what you want, which already exists in the Modbook.

Fuck, I've never noticed that before. Well, I might have to save up for that. Thank you for bringing this to my attention Imperial, I'll have to rep you now :D
As for the rage, I was actually surprised about the iPad price too much to rage. $500 is pretty good for a product such as the iPad, and especially good for Apple.

When i first heard of the rumors of the Ipad i though it would be a legitimate tablet but instead i saw a over sized Iphone. a couple of things that stood out the most for me.
1. OS The logical choice for the Ipad OS is leopard but instead they give you the Iphone -3.
2. capabilitiesThe Ipad can surf through the internet fast +1 rep, the touch screen is very responsive +3, the Ipad is thin and light(for a tablet anyway) +1, it doesn't support USB without an adapter but even then it restricted to media devices only -5, it doesn't support flash +WTF -5, and finally it has more gimmicks then an 80's rock band(frizzy hair and all).
3. pricing omg this is the worst of them all the tablet has a remarkable price gap from 499 to 699 but it wouldn't be apple unless they nickle and dime you. so all the Ipad's have the new A4 processor which is a nice but then you have the 499 which only has 16GB of memory and that not including the 3G fee of $130 making it $630.-40REP
final thoughts: its a great disappointment in my book of tech. Steve Jobs needs to look back at what made apple so great in the past.

While not an apple fanboy, I am partial to apple owning the superb macbook and also a ipod nano. However, I got to say this disappointed with battery life, power, and the fact it doesn't have snow leopard (even if it is understandable).
However I do like the broadband rate 30 dollars for unlimited usage without contract. It might actually more cost effective in the long run to swear off netbooks and just use the ipad. Nothing worst than buying a broadband contract then find it sucks balls in your area.
Verdict: Technology immature and the price has not reached the golden curve yet. Maybe the 2nd or 3rd generation of this thing will be worthwhile. Also add flash, make sure to support HTML 5 in the future please and don't price gouge us on the keyboard peripheral.

^When it comes to Apple, price gouging is essentially inevitable.
Not too thrilled with it tbh. All in all it's just a big iPhone without the phone. Still no multitask, and you can be expected to pay for it despite it should have being there from the start. The whole point of a Kindle was to be able to read without the eye strain that comes with a typical display. Jobs seems to have forgotten about that when he bagged on the Kindle. It'd be nice if it was an actually able to run real programs like Photoshop if it could use a pen, but I'm pretty sure that it can't do that. Many of the things they advertise it to be, are not.
The only real appeal of it is for people who really, really need to be connected to the internet 24/7 wherever they are. The data plan is pretty good, though I wonder how fast it is. The only reason I'd have to get it is for the data to download shit, but paying 500 plus 130 for Internet in addition to paying monthly is more than enough reason to just wait until I get home to get what I want.
Maybe it's just me, but Apple's products never seem to hit the right buttons for me. There's always an alternative that's much more worthwhile of my money. Phone - Sony Satio (12mp camera, MP3 palyer, Phone all in one). Tablet - HP tm2 that was just released (I see much more reason to get that instead since it'd actually be useful in college rather than just being a conversation starter) Desktop - Custom builts (bang for the buck and I like Windows way more than OSX)
Also btw, it's nice that you're making money off of these things. Glad to see that people are profiting off the sheepish masses.

Looks good XD but i dont usually buy apple products, especially those that have just come out, cause apple has this habit of making another one in about 4 months give or take that is a better version of the original but costs less 0.o the biggest example of this are the i-pods XD

Over $500?
Fuck that shit then. I could get a decent PC for that same price. That thing is gonna flop so hard

EXACTLY. They already have a near identical product.
I could see improving on the design, making it faster, last longer, have more space, or even a cosmetic change would be "new".
But, this is just a bigger iphone. I understand that many people don't need everything that a computer can do, but should they have to swallow degraded speed, slower connections, and lack of customization as a result?
This isn't even an actual computer. Nigger technology.
Spoiler:
Edit:A price reduction, or a netbook version (still has a full range of functions, but is cheaper, and lighter) would be cool too.

Not even.
They're adding nothing to the market. As a consumer, you can get better hardware, and software from other sources for cheaper. All they did was put two features together that hadn't been done before, multi-touch and 3g wireless. Multi-touch is an asset, but less necessary on a full sized screen than the iphone. I could manage without. And, there are 3g cards available for purchase. They're another piece to carry around, but this release will prompt the industry to come out with tablets that have it built in (if they haven't already). 3g is also about to be phased out.
I know that, day to day, the average computer user doesn't use anything besides the internet, but the ipad doesn't have flash or java (a large part of the internet experience), and doesn't have groundbreaking utilities for other functions (or, any utilities for some staples. See:handwriting recognition). I would, personally, pick a computer that I can set up to do something, rather than waiting six months, and taking whatever apple wants to feed me through their proprietary app store.
On the subject: It uses itunes. Meaning that it is not intended for standalone use. And, the app store doesn't allow for third party development, which hampers your expected innovation.

Well for me I'm not sure for this product they introduce earlier than expected. Like an Iphone, it became Iphone 3g, then became 3gs. ( just like me I buy a 1st generation iphone... the heck i waste money to buy this i thought that this product is fix then many versions come out...).. I think that Ipad it will be First generation. then many version will come out to improve their product so be it.. I like the design but.. their thinking nah i don't like it i want a product that already fix and never change...

Yeah, too bad it won't sell massively at all. Word of mouth won't help this thing.
This is the like the PS3 all over again. That ridiculous price will stop people from buying this no matter how good it is.

I'm not exaggerating it when I say this. Multi-touch is a revolutionary UI. And now Apple has brought it to a full-sized display.First, yes, you are exaggerating. Second, what do you define a "full-sized display" as?

The Ipad has the one thing that all other apple products has: it Cool!
But that is about it.. everything it can do functionally can be done with a multitude of different devices, with many different screen sizes.

Watch the unveiling
"hmmm, why the hell do they keep making the same thing look different?
I don't understand the demand for this, but like some have said, it will probably sell like hotcakes. I'll pick up a laptop over it any day.

From 3.5" to 9.7" is innovation, especially if you watched the Keynote. I think iWork perfectly demonstrates the potential it has.

As big as what you can comfortably hold in your hand.

You're missing the entire point of the iPad. It's not meant to be a replacement product for a PC or a phone. Take this example:
You spent the day at work, using your iPhone for the Internet on the go and sorting out the daily essentials (there's pretty much an app for everything, iPhone owners should understand) and the MacBook Pro for all the essential stuff you do (word processing etc). You get home, put your iPhone on its stand that syncs with your Mac Pro, and then pick up your iPad, sit on the couch, read and reply to some E-Mails, check out some RSS feeds, check out some of your daily-visited websites, read some books while listening to music. You might download some stuff to your iPad. Later you might head over to the Mac Pro for some gaming, work etc. and at the same time sync the iPad. At night you pick up your iphone and pop it next to your bed in another cradle as your alarm.
Yes, it is a luxury gadget, but I'd gladly shell out the money for it and I believe so will many other people. We'll wait for the sales when this product lands. Also, the iPad with its screen size will inspire countless apps that will do things none of us expected as I said.

The thing is, I don't see anything "unrealistic" or "non-practical" about this device. I understand that the iPad will not be appealing to all consumers, but what product is? It's just that the iPad's appeal targets a smaller niche.

Again, you shouldn't say if the product is "good" or "bad". It might be "bad" for you, but it's "good" for others. People who are willing to spend $499 on this thing are not "idiots" since I doubt "idiots" can have that much money just lying around.
If you don't like it, then don't buy it. Simple as that.

Except for the phone part. Apple makes a shitload of money on the iPhone.
Also, some lulz.

- too small and meagre to replace your desktop, but only as portable as a (better and cheaper) laptop.
- as an ebook, it's limited by what Apple can get their hands on, and having a proper backlight - unlike the Kindle - will make it horrible for reading over any length of time.
- app-driven = no real third-party development.
- I don't want to sit and watch films in my lap. I like my neck as it is.
- only has (expensive) 3G. Even fucking netbooks have wi-fi.
- as mentioned, no multi-tasking.
I have no doubt that the interface is lovely, but the device is unnecessary. There will be plenty of lazy and/or stupid people who will buy it for web browsing...but there is no logical reason to do so.
