Thats a way to think. Me, myself used to think like that, and still do from time to time. But I find its more satisfying to not look at things so zoomed in. I mean, you don't look at those awesome pictures in the museum with a loupe in order to see how every little dot of paint interacts with the other to create the image, because while that approach might be useful in some special occasion, its just not the way the (probably dead) painter meant the picture to be appreciated.

I have a very idealized version of love, but ultimately I know it's just chemicals firing in your brain to ensure you propagate the genome. "Love" will unquestionably make you do stupid shit, we all know this.

Maybe you are just a negative person because you haven't experienced it before.
But, you do have a point. Sometimes, I see my friends who claim that they are in love, post some dumbbass shit on their facebook walls. And being the creeper that I am I go on and see it on my news feed.
At one time in my past relationship, I thought I was in love as well, maybe I was, I don't even know for sure. I was talking to my ex on the phone for 6+ hours about any random thing that popped up in our minds, EVERYDAY. Now after the breakup, I look back at what I did and I think: "Why the hell did I talk to her for 1000+ hours on the phone when we see each other everyday".
Love does make you do some stupid shit though. You hear stories of people who kill themselves over a break up too or doing something to prove their love.
I mean, now that I'm not dating anyone, I can look at love and say that it's just a bunch of hormones going off but when you actually experience it, you'll feel different. Call me a sucker, but love exists. The more time you spend with someone you like, the more attached you become to them and you begin to think about them everyday. But what I'm trying to say is, you got to experience it. It's like people talking about the war when they aren't fighting it. What do they really know about the feelings that soldiers go through?

That guy totally gets the point there, maybe except the after the breakup part, there is nothing to regret when you love someone.
So that way you can think I'm a fool when I say that for my girlfriend, I already waited 5 months to see her (one month to go), I'm gonna spend around 1.5k€ to travel and see her, and that then I'm gonna wait again and again. Do as you wish, think as you wish, but love is something that's worth all the sacrifices and all the troubles when you're living it.
Don't say anything about it if you didn't live it yet, that's surely the best thing to do.

If you look at it from a scientific standpoint, yes, its is the passing of genes and selective mating. Now if you look at it from a human standpoint, it is finding someone you are willing to give almost anything to. You are quite negative, but I see it as reasonable since this world is kinda of screwed up with the divorce rates being over 50% and people dating for physical features and benefits.

I'll say, long ago, I was like like you. I don't really care about this stuffs (but note that I'm not hating it or think it's ridiculous like you). I was fine if I actually will get the arranged marriage by my parents one day. As long as I'll get family.
But it was only before I found my love. I'd say I was messed up back then, all I can think is her and only her, I lost my will to do anything else. Like wow, my life was messed up because of love. It's what they call love sick. So you're saying love is stupid? I agree... To some extent that is. But it's actually not a bad feeling. I've grown up to be able to control my love sickness now. lol
