Judge William Adams Beats Daughter

Actually, I think you're biased because you have memories of REAL abuse and therefore inclined to think that most beatings are abuse. Also taking away cellphone and internet is not an effective way to punish a teenager. Hitting them isn't an effective way to punish them either. Still I hold that its not abuse. If that Judge was my father, I wouldn't like him either but I'm not going to condemn him to hell for that.No matter how you look at it this is a case of physical abuse.
There's no physical disciple in that video, and I'm very familiar with physical disciple due to culture, this is a beating in to submission pure and simple.(which he even states it in the video @ 3:29)
Not much can be done on legal grounds since state of Texas is one amongst half the states(26 I think) that didn't decide to put a straight line to where discipline ends and abuse begins through law.
And with Texas being... Texas, this might actually work as a positive advertisement for the judge.

This is similar to how my friends and I were punished when we were young. I recall my mom hitting on the head with the end of her high heels and a bunch of other unpleasant memories. I know that she was punished the same way as a child so I don't really have anything against it. I don't see how this is such a big deal as:
1)Williams is just punishing his child for disobeying his rules.
2)If the child was a boy I'm sure the reaction wouldn't be as big.
3)Chinese, Korean, and other Asians face this type of shit everyday. (More than others)
IMO: He shouldn't lose his job or face any criminal charges. My views come from my cultural background.
What he said. Apparently the reason why this girl posted the video was so she can get back at her dad for taking away her car or something.
When I was younger, I got kicked out of the house during the winter because I didn't eat fast enough. This girl has it light. Still, not saying that beating ever works but she's being a pussy about it.

I probably wouldn't like it if some random stranger was beating my child as a form of punishment for downloading music or whatever...So, why would I do that as well?
I'm going to have to side with the people that are against physical violence as punishment.

Mind ya I was 5 at the time.

I don't support parents beating their children for most reasons (as in almost every), but I don't like the fact that this girl is trying to ruin her dad's life with such blackmail just because of some little thing that happened years ago and her dad's taking away of her car or something. Based on the comment's the judge is probably getting death threats and stuff. This is from a relatively neutral standpoint.

She's trying to get him help, because for the 1000th time -He. Has. Problems!
She doesn't want any harm to come to her dad. And about the car, she doesn't even live with him, that car thing is was a LIE. Even his wife left him long ago.

No one should be hit with anything but a open hand and if necessary a fist. Shit i not saying you should spank a kid but bruising and injuring a person because your angry just make you a horrible person... and i mean only if necessary like.. a kid is playing with a weapon or stole your car... something that deserves carpal punishment. Not because she has games and music that rated out of her range.. plus she fucking 16... those labels are for under that age in most states.

What. This guy just said it's no big deal. :|To him it probably isnt.
Also I dont understand people in this thread talking about "it was a one time, so what" NO!!!!!! Read the spoiler text in OP
The judge's wife was emotionally abused herself and was severely manipulated into assisting the beating and should not be blamed for any content in this video. The judge's wife has since left the marriage due to the abuse, which continues to this day
So, even her wife left him because of CONTINUING ABUSES. I dont know if he hit his wife, but emotional abuse is (imo) as bad as physical, sometimes even worse. So, he hit his disabled daughter several times (the one on the video being one of them) and emotionally abused his wife (I dont know if he hit her too).
So, to people on the fathers side: after reading that are you still on his side?
One thing I thought when I saw that video for the first time: Narcissism.
But I do think that parents should be able to punish their children properly. Not the way that judge did, but now days you cant even slap your child, or pull his/her hair a bit. And just look at the kids now, all they do is shout "fuck, cunt, shit, whore asshole" around because their parents cant punish them in a way that the child takes it as a punishment.
But that judge should get punished, hard. And after that he should get some help for his mental illness(es).

Why is this on video in the first place?blackmail/revenge/tantrum.
She put it because he was harassing her and her mother.
And about your examples, I don't think you can judge or determine someone's life and how it will turn out based on if they were hit or not. There are obviously infinite other factors. I'm pretty sure there are a lot of people who turned out fine WITHOUT getting the shit beat out of them. And I'm sure there's an equal amount who end up being bad BECAUSE they were hit. There are grownups who have forgotten/don't care anymore that they were hit as kids (as well as other bad stuff they experienced while growing up). But there are those who don't forget! Who still fucking care. And are haunted by their parent's belt, paddle, fists, slaps, shit talking, and so on.
And judging by the actions, words, and attitude of this psychotic redneck piece of shit, I'm pretty sure she's a bit haunted by it.
This video is from the Young Turks and they talk about what happened.
Brain Unger is awesome in this video.
Skip to 2:29 if you don't want to see her get hit again.

Physical altercations of any kind are disgusting ,barbaric solutions to any problem. If your children disobey in the first place your just a terrible parent. And not to cause offense to somewhat normal southerners, but these pig aryan conservative rednecks all deserve to die.Hitting a child or showing some backbone doesnt change anything, if your child's breeding is bad then no action will prevent that, just accept they are worthless second class beings and that it's equally your fault.

holy crap! this happened like 10 miles from where I live! I saw where they say the guy is from and I didn't believe it. Then I looked it up and its true. This happened in the county right next to me. I am totally shocked. I mean I couldn't watch that whole video it was disturbing. You know what else, This guy is actually a judge for child abuse cases. Can you believe that? The police say they are not going to file charges because of the 5 year difference. supposedly the judge says he did it beacuse his daughter downloaded "Illegal Pirated Content" off of the internet. Really? That's just way over the line! Since it was posted this has become a nation wide event, This girl was even on the "Today" Show. It's always shocking when this happens. But for me it was beyond crazy since it happened right in the area where I live and grew up.

5-10. to me, that is too young for a belt. open hand, spanking on the butt for that age group. if the kid is still not getting the point by around ten years old, then up the severity by introducing the belt. this is in tandem with other forms of punishment, such as removing bedroom door, grounding(includes removing all forms of entertainment). and hard labor(think cool hand luke"what's your dirt doing in my ditch"). i got all of these things* and i don't think of any of it as abuse.
Spoiler:
my examples were meant to show that the completely passive, no hitting at all method of parenting is a load. and that not all corpal punishment is abuse. it was in no way an endorsment of physical abuse. i can give another example of passive parenting fail. two bothers that lived a couple blocks from us growing up. on is in prison for shooting a girlfriend for dumping him, and the other was an alcaholic in the gutter last i heard. their names were justtin and ryan.
*except the belt. my mom did a lot of gardening/yardwork so her hands were callused and rough. it was ike a built in paddle. rather than up the implament, she just upped the quantity.
**the nurse in shallow hal. when under tony robbins hypnosis he sees her true form portrayed as Nan Martin, while everyone else see's Sascha Knopf.(google image search them)

What the judge did wasn't "discipline." Nor was it "spanking." I've seen parents spank their kids (I've even seen teachers spank kids, though only when I was in kindergarten), and what Judge Adams did was not at all similar. First, a 16-year-old shouldn't be spanked. They're old enough to reason that certain things are bad and shouldn't be done; they don't need the threat of violence to keep them from misbehaving. Second, he's clearly acting out of anger. A professor of mine once said that he hates disciplining his son, but he has to do it to teach him certain things. Sort of like a father saying, "This is going to hurt me more than it's going to hurt you" before spanking his child. Adams obviously doesn't agree with that sentiment; he's pissed at her and wants to make her pay. He's being an asshole, not a parent.
Finally, why has no one mentioned the fact that she suffers from a disability? She was probably already racked from pain from having CP, so her father's abuse no doubt only made her life even worse. I'm not in favor of hitting children, period, but do people that do believe in it believe that it's okay to hit even disabled children? Isn't there some line, even for those that believe in physically punishing children?
Also, about her recording the video seven years ago and only coming out with it now - if a person is abused at 14 and doesn't tell anyone about it until they're 28, does that make the abuse less significant? Does it make the abuse disappear? It can take people a very long time to admit that they've suffered terrible things. If you're going to bash this girl for acknowledging that her father beat her, then you should bash anybody that as an adult said that they were abused as a child.

I think he is hitting her too much any beating I have have ever gotten or seen like that is normally because they are too enraged they don't know when to stop. I think one smack is enough for a child to learn their lesson with another form of punishment as well.

Ofc I am. While you do have to take this out of context and implication, I understand kids do foolish things and very often may cause trouble and in such they are deliquents and should be punished, albeit not this severely or physically for that matter. By disobey I mean extremely rebellious acts that cause damage to either ones family or another being or something extremely heretical from ones morals or rules. Because this punishment was completely unwarranted and cannot be summarize in any other way than utter brutality caused by a male hierarchy complex, I find this completely reprisable. But to adhere to your question of I am serious, I am. I say this as for one, it is completely possible to raise a kid to not disobey without physical force, it requires much work and more attention than any American or middle class parent would be willing to give, not to mention such an environment is not cheap or easily maintained, but with the right balance of good breeding and genetic aperture and characteristics, it's extremely possible to raise a child to be "perfect" in some aspects. Now to return to the point of someone being a terrible parent, while my criteria for being a good parent is high, any parent not able to raise a successful child is and must be deemed as terrible as in one shape or form they failed to shape their child to the plateau of society, like a potter at a potter's wheel, laziness and lack of training caused by being part of a cycle of failure is the only reason for this occurrence which has stagnated our world with a near worthless generation, while there is still hope for afew cultivated of the field, the field itself has become amassed with weeds because of the laziness and depravity of the men and women who cultivate that field, the parents.
