Kendo

Self-teaching oneself, although leading to "bad habits" is not something I fear. In fact, it suits my life style. Im far too much of a rebel to obey set standards. Likewise, unorthodox kenjutsu has always held an asthetic beauty to me. Pure, Practiced, instinctual movements of the Sword.

Yeah.... but self teaching is very dangerous....
i have seen many fallen so low in the difference of skill with the one that teached by sensei....
But kenjutsu is great too.... the ony low point it do not teach the fight against another swordsman... (according to my research most don`t.... Well don`t know the truth) Cause the other teaching is gained from fighting your opponent... LIke mae, seimei, and kamae pressure

Honestly, when it comes towards actual and practical sword fighting, kendo is not enough, nor is kenjutsu. The environs is different, from fighting location to clothing and equiped gear. Actual fighting is a lot more unpredictable, and I base my fighting philosophy on practical warfare.

Well, If u need the actual sword fighting.....
Well, just use kendo or kenjutsu as the base of your fighting style
It is okay..... I do not see anything wrong with kendo technique....
Except let`s just face it....
Kendo is a very long way to hone swords skill
Cause shoudan is considered beginning to learn kendo

I also highly doubt we'd be in a situation where two guys are facing off in a space over 10 feet^2. I'd say ninjutsu is more applicable than kendo or kenjutsu. It's not so much as the technique but the situation that makes kendo and kenjutsu obsolete.

Well, you might be right....
But , it is not about the martial arts itself but the one that practice it...
Well, if u want to beat the heck out of someone....
Just buy a long baton.....
and use tsuki......
If u already reached nidan above....
I think almost everyone will be killed////

Wait, you use Bokken for sparring? I mean, getting hit in the head with a shinai hurts pretty damn much even while armored, getting hit with a Bokken would crush your skull. I'll just assume you mean Kata training or summin' like it.
Practiced Kendo for a little more than 6 months, but quit because it was not what I was looking for. Kendo is something only usable against Kendo, with too much rules during the combat to make the fight enjoyable.

i know the applications and what happens. but still it is such that we practice battoujutsu and kata that more senior members can wield dull-edged katana during training, also in sparring situations and practiced sword play.
but of course as long as the other person wields the same haha.

Oh, right. But I hardly think you do sparring with "dull-edged katana", at least not in the same meaning as sparring is done with a shinai.
... and "battoujutsu"? Battoujutsu is just the art of drawing the sward correctly.

not really. its also killing techniques. for me, battoujutsu #3 is my favourite. by my sensei it is considered to be one of the more dangerous techniques taught.

I use bokken for sparring practice. A 42" synthetic. It's heavy. I've been hit in the knuckles once with one and could grip anything properly for two days. They are harsh, but more real. It gives you more incentive to dodge or block the attack. And yes. Being hit in the head with them will also put you on the ground or kill you. They are durable and hard enough to chip a driveway when swung with enough power. I've done it three times. Cold Steel bokken. Cold Steel being the brand name.
