Make a computer appear broken.

I need ideas on how to make a computer appear broken, but is actually easily fixable. This must be able to be done quickly and without logging into a user account.
All I could think of was unplugging keyboard/mouse, but anyone who spends more than 10 minutes on a computer daily should know that.
THIS IS FOR A NOBLE CAUSE.

Go into your system bios and disable that SATA port that your hard drive runs into. Then when you try and boot your system it wont read the hard drive. When you no longer need the broke look go back into your bios and enable the SATA port that you disabled.

Indeed. That'll do it.
In all seriousness, tswarthog's plan would be simple and effective.

just out of curiosity... why do you need your computer to appear broken? >3>Part of an elaborate long-term plan that will eventually get me laid, if all goes well.
I wouldn't put that kind of effort in for just any guy, btw. THIS BITCH IS SPECIAL.

Turn your PC off. Open your PC computer. Find the cord that connects to CD-Rom Drive and disconnect it. Put your computer back together. When she comes over try to play a J-Pop Music CD and pretend to be surprised when it's not being read. Do the 'try to find out what's wrong with my computer' bit and go to the control panel and go to the properties or something. Just improvise it.
That's when you have an epiphany. Say you remembered you accidentally dropped your computer when you were using it to weight-lift because you gave all your dumbbells and weights to GoodWill. Turn your PC off. Open your computer, find the loose cord and reconnect it. Turn on your PC again and run it and profit

A geeks suggestion - Go into your system bios and disable that SATA port that your hard drive runs into. Then when you try and boot your system it wont read the hard drive. When you no longer need the broke look go back into your bios and enable the SATA port that you disabled.

well if its not a laptop you could open the monitor and peel the power cable from the inside, the u leave both ends in the form of a hook or "J" and leave it separated from the inside and reclose the CPU, then later open it and hook em together, or hook em together and stick em together with black tape, so you can use it, all this done with the AV end unplugged ofcourse
do this and you'll sureley get laid missy ;D
