Manga on the kindle

Does anyone read manga on a standard black and white kindle? I don't like the idea of an e-reader for regular books, but if it could read manga well, that would be awesome. I don't read many scanlations because it's annoying to be at my computer when I just want to be on the go or curled up in a corner, but a kindle would be great for that... if it worked. Hundreds of free volumes at my fingertips, anytime, anywhere.. that would be heaven.
Anyone do it? if so, how well does it work?
Thanks

Well, i own a kindle and honestly, doing so would be a battery level eater shit.
ANYWAYS, not considering the battery consuming thingy, it works QUITE well. What you wanna do is download the PDF file and paste it to the thing and you can curl up, reading the manga.
Teh ploblem is just that it is quite slow for pics [remember that it is used for reading TEXT], and sometimes the image leaves a "mark" on your screen afterwards, in which CAN BE ERASED BY RESTARTING THE KINDLE.
Well, i would give it 8/10. The resolutions are OKAY. What is to be considered is just teh battery, the slow processing and the mark. And that's it. XD
Thanks for reading! :P
(PS : It's a good idea, the PDF file is very easy to find on the internet, too)

I don't think the bw and white kindle could handle manga was well as the next one up.... plus you be depended to certain format like pdf or azw/mobi.... or text. I guess if you re rez a manga to it optimum rez format... what that is... i don't know it could be ok. I hate apple and their products since their cheaply made Chinese crap but you might wanta look in to that or any other lightweight tablet.. i have a dell shell one, but it heavier then the ipad because it's better made and has faster speeds, but what the difference between 7 oz and 13oz.

Thanks for the replies! I found a program called "mangle", which supposedly converts manga into a ebook format, but I don't know how it works. Would anyone would be willing to test this out for me? I'd really appreciate it!
http://foosoft.net/mangle/
BTW, if I did this, I'd get the plain $79 kindle. I wouldn't spring for anything more.

I too, would enjoy reading manga on an eBook like the Kindle or the Nook, but unfortunately, when I found out that you can not purchase manga via service, I was a little disappointed. I would have liked to DL mangas on an eBook to read multiple volumes on the go.
I'd find that quite strange actually. I would see putting manga on eBook stores would be very profitable for companies. I for one, would have bought an eBook just for this occasion.

I dunno. I think even if the thing goes into the store, nothing would happen, besides, only a handful of people worldwide have the kindle, though more people love mangas. Amazon wouldn't think it's worth the risk wouldn't they???
@Mynameis832
Okay. I've finished DLing onto my kindle. The thing's frickin' awesome!!
[I'll post a pic of my "kami-sama" manga on work today at noon] :D
EDIT:
Spoiler:
And teh loading per image is so small that it's just like opening a plain text doc!!!

Thanks again for doing this! Was it easy to run the manga through the program? Does it play even if you don't? How is the quality of the text, is it easy to read? lastly, which kindle is that?
Thanks!
Thanks!

I ordered me a 1st generation nook! Factors to getting one included: Cheapness, since I snagged one for 45 bucks... SD card slot, since manga takes up a lot of space, and way more compatible file types than the kindle. I'll see how it works and let you guys know! If it sucks, I can always sell it on ebay.

Finally arrived yesterday... and dang, I love this thing! The features in general are really cool, and the little touchscreen works better than I imagined. I can even rudimentarily browse fakku! xD
Reading manga, I never ended up using mangle. I followed this guide instead, and after some fenagling, I can get a volume done and uploaded in a minute or two. You need to make it into a PDF, but if you do that alone the quality will really suck. You have to use irfanview to make it 600 by 730 pixels, which in a couple of experiments I've found is the best quality. interestingly, it's not 600 by 800 (the ratio of the nook).
The reading experience? pretty pretty good! The actual quality is very nice, no complaints there, the shading and everything is spot on. The biggest problem though, is the size (the screen is a lot smaller than I imagined it would be) at 6 inches. While everything IS readable in high light, you have to squint or hold it really close in low light to read it well. If there was a 7 or 8 inch version, that would be perfect.
The page loads in maybe a quarter of a second, so no problem. However, I definitely read a lot slower on the nook over a conventional book, either because you have to manually flip each page (whereas I might go through several pages at once if it's an action sequence), or most likely because of the size, where you have to really look at each panel instead of just absorbing the whole page at once.
Given the cons, it does have a couple of advantages to a regular book in that you can turn a page with one hand. So you can read while eating, something you can't do with manga.
Overall, I think I'm going to have a long, happy relationship with my nook. I'll let you guys know if there are future developments.
Edit: pics!
Those who helped, thank you!

I am not really interested in reading manga on the Kindle or any other e-reader for that matter. I feel it takes away the essence of manga. As far as reading regular books though I think it would be rather nice. My only main interest in audio books by audible to be honest.
As far as "can it be done" I don't think the regular kindle can support images that well. The kindle fire on the other hand could with the right kind of app....right?

I hate Kindels, e-readers, etc. If you want a book, go out and buy the damn thing.I thought the same thing... and then I got the nook. First of all, I never really noticed much of a difference between it and a regular book. Once you actually started reading, it was all the same. While it is sentimental to pick up a real book, the whole process of making one just seems like... such a waste now. Why kill those trees if you can just make it digital?
and second of all, I read like 20 volumes of manga in just the last day on this. That's $200. This e-reader was less than 50.

Um, see previous post. It worked. As for the kindle fire, though, I don't think I'd like reading in LCD. I only even tried an E-reader because the E-ink display is very similar to real paper.
Found another con: Double pages. It's almost impossible to read the text with two pages on the itty-bitty screen. It becomes a real pain in the butt if it looks like a significant plot point, because I have to mark the page and look it up on the computer later.
Found another pro: I sprained my wrist for a few days. I couldn't move it at all. Manga is one of those things that you really need two hands to read... but not with the nook! it really saved my butt when I couldn't do much else.

Don't read manga on kindle. Do it on color screens. And this is the second time the american dictionary has found fault with me.

Manga is mostly black and white, the color is mostly omake. Oh and btw, its automatically transformed into B&W on the kindle so no problem there.

It is mostly black and white, but there are good color manga out there.
