Martial arts

To quote a previous quote of mine,
I currently am experimenting with boxing, muay thai, and certain techniques of kung-fu. I take a strike fast and heavy approach that deals the most damage in the the right place. In a sense, I am all about power and technique. As asthma limits my stamina no matter what I do, I prefer to take down enemies with the least amount of powerful and accurate strikes without prolonging the battle into grappling or a faceoff.
Jeet Kun Do is essentially MMA when it comes to the hybridization of martial arts styles, but JKD is more of a philosophy than a set of defined kata or combinations.

In a sense, it's best to learn the precepts and concepts of above mentioned fighting styles and then see if they fit your fighting style and physique. This, in form, is part of Bruce Lee's philosophy called Jeet Kun Do, i.e. using whatever means or styles it takes to fight in the most efficient manner and take the enemy down in the fastest possible way. I've heard from a small handful of people in martial arts and few people not in martial arts say this bad for your joints. But than again I do shin, elbow, and fist conditioning and that just strikes me as not good in the long run.meh , only in extremes , but then again the same can be said of ANY form of weight training

Alright, I'm not physically fitted for sparring, but I've learned traditional chinese martial arts (praying mantis) for 3 years, which is of course still at a baby level of the system, but I'm continuing. Currently also learning some Chinese fast wrestling from youtube ^^ been using my punching bag as dummy for practice. Chinese fast wrestling is called Kuai Jiao, but traditional wrestling is called Shuai Jiao. I've known the basic for MA already, so learning Shuai Jiao and to convert it to Kuai Jiao is no major difficulty for me.

I'm a black belter in Taekwondo but I've only gotten to the third degree because my body can't handle dancing and Taekwondo training at the same time. I live to dance now. ❤❤❤ It's been a tradition in our family to learn Taekwondo at a young age. I've started training when I was 8 years old and I am thankful for it. :)

Black Band in Muay Thai (We used a colored armband system)
Brown Belt in Judo
Yon-dan in Kendo (Yon-dan is a traditional Japanese rank, as Kendo is an ancient art, it does not have an externally worn sign of rank)

When I was younger, I spent several years learning Kung Fu and Tae Kwon Do. My brother heads his university's mixed martial arts club, he also teaches thai kickboxing classes, and is currently studying judo in our city's Japanese cultural center (he is a lot more passionate about martial arts these days than I am ~ they are in part his form of physical release).
