Messenger of choice?

What's Fakku's preference on messenger clients? I've always liked Live Messenger 8 with A-patch installed simply cause of the handwriting, but to my surprise they ditched it in the new version.

Pidgin - multi-platform, supports dozens of protocols and has a plugin architecture for actually needed features like encryption, notifications, etc.
XChat - pure IRC client with no hassles, free and won't bug you (like mIRC if you've used it for more than 30 days without buying).
Google Talk - simple IM client that likely more people could use than they realize since all you need is a google account (gmail, gdocs, etc.). Supports voice over IP. Once again no useless trinkets, just sheer functionality.
Windows Messenger is for immature teenagers who believe that writing with sparky, glitter dusted letters with the most annoying blinking tags (like a '90 Geocities fansite turned up to eleven than boosted into overdrive) is absolutely necessary to get across how unique and special you are.

I just use Windows Messenger,
and I'm oh so unique. Can't get more special than standard black text.

AIM, Windows Live, and Skype.
Because everyone has one or the other and I got sick of people demanding I get either.

Seriously.

My favorite form of messaging is Internet Relay Chat. Truly a beautiful open protocol. Discussion forums, one-on-one messaging, Direct Client-to-Client data transfers and massive networks, teeming with activity and information. I just can't see a reason not to use it.
My clients of choice:
mIRC w/ NNScript 4.22 (Windows)
XChat (Linux)
JChat (Java-based client for cellular phones.)

I use Pidgin Used to use Trillian 3 but kept getting error messages from AIM. switched to 4. Too much "eye shifing" to read so changed to Pidgin. Nice.

WLM (with standard text), and Xfire for games. They're both pretty bad but I don't use either that extensively anyway.

AIM for my buddies and facebook, but mostly Steam since I use its in game overlay for a lot of my games

AIM for school friends and occasional others (heck, who in the US didn't use it starting in middleschool? - so all my old buddies have that); MSN usually for online buddies and international friends; Skype for whomever has it.
And Facebook chat for people I know irl and trust, haha.
