NBA Season 2009-10

The NBA newest season is finally here. Discuss here how much your teams rule (or suck if you're a Clippers fan).
Go Raptors. We're so winning the Titanic Division this year. They got rid of all the crappy players so we have nowhere to go but up.
Also, as I'm typing this, Lebron and the Cavs are annihilating Boston. I love it.

Go Warriors! Let's beat the Rocket tomorrow in our opener! Lol. I can't really see the Warriors doing that good, but who knows? Maybe they'll surprise me.

Yeah, 1-0 people! We're off to a great start. Not even the Raptors killer (aka Lebron James) can't stop our awesomeness.

Oh my god.... How the hell do we lose to a Rockets team without McGrady, Artest, or Ming? =_= We really, really need to get rid of Jackson. When you take 16 shots and only get 17 points.... That's really bad....
I like this Warriors team. They can be competitive, but I want them to win, not just be competitive. We have the talent to score, but we're lacking on the defensive end, especially in rebounds, but our small guards haven't been posted up on like they said they might which is a plus I suppose. Still.... Wish the Warriors could play better. Wish coach Nelson actually cared.... I sigh.... This'll probably be a repeat of last year...

LeBron and the Cavs haven't figure it out yet. Not worried, it's a long season and they'll make the playoffs no matter what, but a 1 seed would be nice to avoid potentially playing both the Magic and the Celtics.

Okay, I take back everything I said about the Craptors. They still suck. They still don't know how to play on the road. They still keep getting out rebounded on the boards by crappy teams. And they keep mounting good comebacks only to falter at the finish line. Oh yeah, we also lost to the damn Grizzlies.
Same ol', same ol'.
Same ol', same ol'.

Warriors.... Failure on the boards as always, take too many threes, no defense. Fail season... Get rid of Nelly. He doesn't care... Lol.

Lakers fan, and no im not a bandwagon jumper. Ive been a fan of them since 02. I also support the Cavs, mostly because i love how LeBron controls the court with his play.
I also hate the Celtics, Mavs and Spurs.
Lakers losing to the Mavs /facepalm. They just played downright pitiful. Something like 32% from the field.

Spurs all the way (though they don't really have a lot of young guns). As for the Lakers and Celtics, I;m kinda pissed by the fact that they built their teams via checkbooks, I mean just check out the Lakers' roster.

Thunder fan here. Yeah I know the team name sucks but you got to love the potential of our core. If the Thunder barely miss the playoffs, that's a good season for me.

I like Boston, and I am totally bandwagon just because of the Patriots. I think they are honestly going to win the title this year, as long as they stay healthy. They just have too much going for them.
I am a Bucks fan though, and FUCK we are dead again this year. Here's hoping for .500!

Greg Oden is injured again!!? Are you kidding me!!?? Not only that but
I feel sorry for him, and the Blazers organization. He was playing so well too. But it makes you think when he can get injured by just jumping without any contact (I kid you not. Check out the link and read).

If the Pistons can (somehow) win tomorrow's game against the Nuggets in a convincing enough fashion, and without Gordon... HUGE! If they lose however, DAMN injuries! -at we've got more 'legit' of an excuse for losing too much than of last season's trade.

The Pistons are toast this year. Ben Gordon can't play defense and is undersized for SG and Charlie V can't rebound or play defense. They both score points, but they aren't super efficient scorers. Scoring lots of points isn't as helpful as one might think if you don't do it efficiently.
The Cavs need to shape up. Sure, they have enough talent to get a top 4 playoff seed while cruising, but they need to figure out how to use Shaq more intelligently. The offense cannot consist of LeBron or Mo Williams shooting 20ft jumpers off the dribble. LeBron has to rest and will have bad nights, and 20ft jumpers off the dribble suck.
It happened to KG last year. It sucks for Oden. He seems like a good guy, and he was really starting to put it together this year.

This is how many injuries in how many years of professional play? After he heals up, I see a trade for a mid-level player

@WhiteLion: At least you could have said that back when they were on that 7 game skid. I really would have believed you by then; not when they're actually, and currently winning (5 in-a-row now).
I'm well aware that the season is young but am I not allowed to say that my team is doing good every now and then, when it is (somewhat) true? Do tell me, what's a fan gotta do? Just admit to the fact that our team sucks?
Well, I'm sure you have no ill-will towards me (I don't have any idea why in hell you would) nor the Pistons (though this I cannot ascertain) for saying so. I just didn't quite appreciate it, that's all.

I don't have any ill will towards you or the Pistons(except when they play the Cavs).
I think the Pistons might be able to make the playoffs as a low seed in the east(especially consider how bad the east is when you get past the top 4), but I don't think they can seriously contend for the title. Unlike in the NFL, in the NBA, the best teams tend to win titles most of the time because of the long season and 7 game series. It's too early to say for sure because injuries could change things, but at this point, I think the list of title contenders is this: Lakers, Mavs, Celtics, Magic, Hawks, Cavs.
I think the Pistons are trying to rebuild. If I were a Pistons fan, I would be watching the development of Rodney Stuckey. If the Pistons are going to contend, they need him to emerge as a star. Ben Gordon can definitely be a useful player in the right lineups, but he's not a superstar and can't carry a team. He's also just really small which makes defending other SGs tough. Charlie V isn't a player I like very much because he's a PF who doesn't rebound or defend very well, and rebounding is really important and PF is an important rebounding position. I'd take Varejao over him any day. Charlie V can also be useful of course, but I think the Pistons overpaid for him and Ben Gordon.
The Pistons fans can't be too mad. You guys had a good run with Billups/Prince/Rip/Sheed/Big Ben. At this point, though, those players are getting old and not enough to win it all.
I know something about bad seasons. LeBron's first couple years as a Cav when he was adjusting to the NBA were rough, worse than the Pistons now. But you always root for the team to win and look for the encouraging signs of emerging young players and positive personnel moves.
Oh, and delusional love of one's own team is perfectly acceptable. Every year I think the Browns will get better and most of the time they prove me wrong.

Tsk, not enough Basketball talk around here.
Current Eastern Conference Standings:
1.Cleveland 26-8
2.Boston 23-8
3.Orlando 23-8
4.Atlanta 21-10
5.Miami 16-14
6.Toronto 16-17
7.Chicago 13-17
8.Charlotte 12-18
Current Western Conference Standings
1.Lakers 25-6
2.Dallas 22-10
3.Phoenix 21-12
4.Denver 20-12
5.San Antonio 19-11
6.Portland 21-13
7.Houston 20-13
8.Oklahoma City 18-14
Looking at this list I'm surprised at:
Miami - They have weak supporting cast, but Wade has been a beast this year.
Toronto - Man, this team should be fighting with Atlanta for 4th man, at least the 5 win streak kept me happy
Phoenix - Holy crap, I thought this team was done. Lottery, Steve Nash is truly an awesome player.
Oklahoma - My sleeper team, and I was right. This team is young and rolling.
So who do you think will win the Championship this year? Is your team even in the play-offs?
Discuss.

Man, that team sometimes looks like championship material and other times they drop games to the weakest teams in the league.
I'm pretty sure they'll follow that win streak with another losing streak. Bosh will be gone after this season and every Toronto sports fan will go into a deep depression. Dark times ahead especially when the Leafs could be the "best" team in town.
Book it!

Toronto is historically awful on defense. They have a high post 7-footer who can't guard anyone in the low post and is a mediocre rebounder, a slow unathletic SF, and Jose Calderon, hardly a stopper. Even CB4 isn't really very good on defense. They'll make the playoffs thanks to the weakness of the East after the top 4, but I can't see them winning a playoff series against any of those teams unless some massive trade or injury reshapes the landscape.
I don't have a good handle on the Bosh situation, but many people think he's fleeing Toronto if they don't make a deep playoff run, which most likely won't happen. If so, they should think about dealing him now, crazy as it sounds. They won't of course, cause the GM wants to keep his job, but it would suck for basketball in Toronto if he leaves and they're stuck watching Bargs and Hedo lead the team to 20 wins next year.
