Nice Gestures You Hated
0
Have you ever had someone, especially someone you care about, do something nice to you that you totally hated? Like someone does you a favor you don't want done or gives you a present you couldn't give a flying fuck about? This has happened to me twice already this year which is ironic because I have been selling and throwing out some things I don't want anymore even if they are in good condition.
I got a video game that I absolutely hated and, when I asked someone for a book, that person bought me the entire collection which sucks because the sequels to that series are phenomenally absurd and now I am stuck with both the game and the books because, in case those people ask me, I don't want to be a jerk and say: «I hated that shit you got me so I sold it».
Has something like this ever happened to you?

You sound really ungrateful, amazed people buy you anything at all.
Closest I've got to "Nice gestures I've hated" is a friend of mine getting me Skyrim for the PS3 for my birthday. 'Nuff said. It's still pretty damn addictive though.
Either that or a relative trying to get me to eat even when I'm not hungry. As if I'm not fat enough. You can only ask me if I want anything to eat so many times in an hour before it gets really annoying or I start to take offense.

Sure, you don't have to accept every gift happily, I think that's silly.
I hate it when people take pity on me cause I don't have much cash ever to fed myself and basically force me to eat and pay for me. It's rude.

If I want something, I buy it myself or ask for it so when they offer me something I didn't want, it gets kind of annoying because I have to endure reading or playing through it and then keep it. I usually don't care about things and I only keep what I really love or need.
You say I sound ungrateful but you could very well make the argument that I am being selfless. If I had known they would get me this, I would tell them not to waste their money on something I didn't want. Now they have wasted their money, my time and my space. It reminds me of that Family Guy joke where one of Peter's brother in law buys him tropical fishes and he has to go through the trouble of going at night to the store to feed them. Just don't give me the fishes!

I see where you're coming from, but I still think you're just ungrateful.

I hate when I'm quiet and someone tries to talk to me. I'm quiet because I don't feel like talking to anyone, damn it!

Weirdly enough it seems to happen to me all the time...
Especially in my family. I know that I'm pretty picky about a lot of things and I feel really bad about complaining often and not appreciating the gesture. e.g. someone cooks something for me but it's done the wrong way or with ingredients I dont like, buying the wrong shampoo or food.
Please don't get me started on presents. I swear to you, all I get whole day every day is earrings and nail polish, sometimes with a handcream and/or chocolate (really creative and individual, right?!).
I really tresure my friends so I always think about presents for weeks, try to fit the persons character and hobbies, and most of the time I attach a drawing, painting or handicraft as I'm good with it, and am never stingy with money.
But it seems I'm only worth nail polish and handcream.
I hope I don't sound like a jerk but that is how I see it :/

I'm a very giving person; I like giving/making things for people, and I never expect anything in return.
When I do get something in return, I'm grateful for it. Even if it's something shitty, I'll have fun with it. I can have fun with most things.
Somebody got me Beetle Juice for the NES as a gift, and I'm having a blast with it- hell, I'm still trying my damned hardest to beat it.
Also, if I want something, I get it. I don't ask, or insinuate that other people get it for me.
In other words: I appreciate people getting me things, but I don't ask for- nor do I imply that you get me anything.
I'll give you shit, you don't have to give me shit.

You're stuck with the gifts that you can't appreciate because if you tell them the same shit that you've told Fakku, they won't give you gifts anymore.
I know people just like you. You're the type of person that, when life hands you lemons, while everyone else is making lemonade, you're bitching about how life didn't just give you lemonade.

I get you both completely. It's gifts after all, and I love giving someone presents that they are truly happy about, I don't "expect" anything in return.
But don't you feel sad when you have the feeling friends don't think about you as much as you do about them? I don't really care about whether the presents are what I wanted or not, I love them all, but the underlying message you get makes me sad sometimes, or do you feel different.

When someone does something nice for you. Why would you hate it, you are getting stuff from them. You dont have to give anything back. If you get something extra, then deal with it. Its up to you to do whatever you want with it. Sell it, throw it away, whatever.
Nothing to really hate.
Nothing to really hate.

Say thank you. They meant well. What you do with the gift after they give it to you is your own business.
I think the OP is extremely ungrateful. From now on, tell people to never get you shit. You're gonna pick apart whatever they get you unless it's 100% what you want, how you want it anyway. Get over yourself.
We all get gifts we don't like sometimes.

I did. I'm not so cruel to not appreciate the thought of even getting a gift.

lol with an attitude like yours, would not be surprised if you need something someday and your friends and family say "no, you're a dick" you are what's wrong with this world.

I dont like it when people offer me money, and I refuse it most of the time unless they force it on me.
