[quote="Urijah"]I've had an account for 7 years, check my profile. Welcome to reality, kid.
DMCA takedowns over the past few years have torn apart several fansubbing groups as well as communities, whether you agree with it or not is irrelevant. Props to Jacob for keeping the community alive under that pressure. I would assume the majority of the money for the things sold are passed along to the magazine where these works originally are published from.
It's not that I don't agree, it's that despite your account age I speak as an insider and know for a fact the bolded is wrong. The only group that got actually affected by the DMCA was TLLP (years later it's still the same couple, one translator and one editor) and it was not so much because of Wani (believe it or not their DMCA is not as effective as you think it is because sadpanda still hosts a scary amount of their content, both raw and translated) but because they got scared and jumped the gun. And, even though they suicided their original group, they still exist under other name and scanlate, albeit for cash most of the time.
I promise you, had TLLP just quit doing Wani content and started releasing anything else, Wani would have not touched a hair on their heads.

I do wish people would try to learn the reasoning the site went down this route rather than let your emotions do the talking and post bullshit.Basically if Jacob hadn't come to a compromise we'd have been shut down. No more Fakku. We're not the only site/group that got affected by DMCAs, but we are the only one (that I know of) that struck a deal that was mutually beneficial to both parties; Japanese artists get paid what they're owed, we get uncensored porn, and we still get freebies to boot.
There are other sites for porn (l2ExHentai). To solely rely on Fakku for that was doomed from the off.
And yet stats said this was the case for quite a few time. Not all people are hardcore wankers.

My Fakku account may be less than a week old, but I've been lurking as an anon since 2008 at least. I loved anime as a little kiddo, I still remember staying up late in my grandpa's living room when I should've been asleep so I could watch Adult Swim on Cartoon Network. Little did I know, it was Saturday night, so instead of Robot Chicken, I got Cartoon Network's first airing of the first episode of Naruto instead. And boy, was I hooked from the drop!As a 13 year old, magical ninja wizards were pretty fucking cool. A couple of months later, I heard of this thing called hentai from a friend, and surprise surprise, googled it and found this site. It was pretty darn cool to me at first, and being all hormonally super-charged and stuff I was gung-ho about free porn, as you can well imagine.
As much as the new way the site is organized with subscription content and bookstore stuff might be tough to get used to, I'm sure that Jacob and the rest of the gang are going to do their absolute best to make sure that Fakku is still a great place to be if you wanna look at some H-manga. Just have to have a little faith and patience, and not flip your lid before you even see what they have in store, okay?
Coincidentally, Visual Novels and manga/anime regardless of their age demographic, will only spread outside of Japan/wherever they're made if it's financially worthwhile to the people that make them. If the creator doesn't see profit to be made to justify the effort, why would he even bother trying to sell his goods in America, or the UK, or any other country for that matter? Why not just publish it in his own language and make his profits selling it in the country he lives in? I don't mind paying a little bit of money every month if it's going to encourage artists to spread their work around the world a little, :)
OP must be salty that I don't agree with him, judging by the negative rep I just got. I posted my anime initiation story, shared some facts on how the market for anime in general works, and advised him/her/it to chill out and wait to see how things shake out, none of which was being rude in any way. But w/e, it's all good I guess

I have access to high quality, uncensored hentai. And I also have the freedom to lurk other hentai sites. All bases are covered. All is fine in the world of smut.

I never really liked the new FAKKU, ever since the day Jacob started FAKKU Subscriptions.
I mean, it's good that the original artists are getting more money and so does FAKKU, and that subscribers have access to uncensored stuff.
That's really really great and all, but my beef with FAKKU is that the site is turning pretty much into a very known legal paysite that caters to its payers more than to its non-subscribers. And that the "more controversial "Doujins are all but extinguished from here. That irks me.
FAKKU back then had pretty much all options open for everyone.
I understand that it all had to be done for FAKKU to survive. But for everyone that has loved the more free FAKKU back then, it just looks like Jacob has sold us out big time, just for more moolah.
If a really hardcore loli/guro doujin is uploaded, well then (for those that love those stuff) yay~. It's uploaded and for everyone to see.
If a really disturbing NTR doujin appeared, well then yay~. It's uploaded for everyone to see.
If an uncensored doujin appears, or that a censored doujin is decensored, well then yay~. It's uploaded for everyone to see.
Now, pretty much anything "offending" is removed from the site, or is never even uploaded here at all. Even the decensored ones that are done by scanlators are never uploaded here. Not to mention a few doujins that are updated for better quality are never re-uploaded here.
TL;DR FAKKU now is great for people with money to throw. They have also removed the "controversial" stuff for legal reasons.

Loli wasn't even allowed on the site till last year or so unless it snuck it's way on here. Also this site was pretty vanilla and tame before the legalization thing. The site never had guro, scat, piss, nor bestiality due to some legal reasons and mostly because it was something Jake doesn't like. Some may have leaked on here like the loli, but you can't keep up with everything and it's not like we all coordinated uploads when we did so.
Controversial content was marked for other countries because it is banned in other areas, but other then that because this is locally US centered site, content that is allowed here will be on here. Nothing was taken away from the site genre wise, just sorted and censored for a time (helped with that process so I know). The only thing removed were works that were asked to be taken down by the company and artists themselves that they did not want on here personally. If you don't see it nor see it updated then it is related to those two things and legally it has been respected to comply. Ethically fakku will comply with an artist's request to not have a work on here as well. Eventually though anything not through legal routes will be taken off of here completely, they're just trying to build up enough material to start showing things for free eventuality. Takes time to change everything.
Yes subscribers will get things more-so then non-subscribers, but that can't be helped. If you pay for a service you expect to get compensated for it. To make things fair for both free and subscribers would mean there is no product worth buying. In due time there will be more product for non-subscribed members but this all is new. You and everyone that want it now have to be patient, it takes time to put material out.
Other then that you don't make sense when you say you're happy for fakku's decision and then say you think they're just money grubbing is very contradictory. You are correct, artist are compensated, but the money made by fakku goes back in turn to the fans. They are very passionate about this and quite nice people too.

I love the new ads, especially the promo pages. I just like how the promo pages are laid out, especially the TiTiKei one with that boob png. I've even gone and saved a couple background layouts just cuz I liked how they look.

Fakku wasn't a good site for free content for years: Lack of content, tags, artists, info, etc.
However it's a good alternative for people who want legit content. I'm not fully supporting it completely however if they are still uploading unlicensed content. And I don't think I'll be doing it anytime soon unless someone big comes, and I'm sure it'll happen probably by the very end of this year.

the site is turning pretty much into a very known legal paysite that caters to its payers more than to its non-subscribers.Jacob and others have said time and time again that some free content will be dropped every now and then, as a sort of incentive to get people to subscribe (lack of money of course is another story entirely). It's not completely biased against non-subscribers, especially with the forums being free still.

the "more controversial "Doujins are all but extinguished from here. What's being "extinguished" are doujins specifically. Parody of series such as Touhou, Kantai Collection and the like fall under a trickier legal ground than original work, hence little risks being taken regarding keeping that around. As for "more controversial" stuff, in case you haven't noticed, Fakku only really started getting loli content recently. It was almost banned during the early years. The tags not being available now is also partly due to a bug, not because Fakku plans to blacklist that stuff. If anything, take up this complaint with Wani for having such a limited variety.

Also, lol you mention "everyone". News flash, a lot of Fakku users that come for just the content are a bunch of whiny pricks. You can tag something as well as you want, but someone out there will complain and start up a storm. There's no pleasing everyone at once.

This is exactly what I'm talking about. It's precisely because everyone will be able to see it, someone will complain about it. This at least weeds out the whiners, if you ask me.

I might just be remembering wrong, but I barely ever remember finding decensored stuff on Fakku, even before the "paywall". I just browsed elsewhere and coincidentally saw that some old stories were decensored.

I only learned about this last year, but iirc loli was never strictly banned as much as the upload wasn't encouraged (kind of a tongue-in-cheek thing). As for the uploads, there were a lot less people keeping the thing going than you can possibly imagine, and they simply didn't care for controversial content (as well as people working on it not caring for this place either). It wasn't until 5am (obvious why he was let in) and Dynellen were given uploading rights that the big flood happen.
There was also a somewhat weird attempt at looking more legit like sadpony and poorurin with the whole "let's spam all comiket stuff with tags and everything", but that didn't really make sense with all those years to catch up, it was a mess.
