well I've been trying to play "to be with you" by Mr. Big, it's a really nice acoustic song, but it's kind of complicated, or at least for me it is. maybe try that one, i'm sure with enough practice you could play it ^_^

For a little more advanced acoustics check out artist such as Ben Gibbard(The Postal Service, Death Cab For Cutie), Conor Oberst(Bright Eyes, Monsters of Folk and Conor Oberst & The Mystic Valley orchestra). And then there's a whole bunch of various singer/songwriters out there with all from advanced "I-will-never-be-able-to-play-this" to basic easy-to-play songs out there.
Just give me a holler if you want some more tips on music in that general direction.

thanks for the suggestions! i can also play some iron and wine songs, which are simple, melodic, and beautiful :) as far as genres, lately i've been more interested in bluesy songs and spanish guitar. i like a lot of fingerpicking when i play.

well I never really liked the white stripes, but that tune was great, I liked it! I'll give it a try ^_^
same goes for for the spanish guitar tune, I never really had a taste for spanish tunes (even though i'm hispanic lol), but that tune was great! I already have half of it down, very fun to play.

here is one other suggestion. sea and the rhythm by iron and wine. super easy song but it is a beautiful tune.

Played the piano for a long time, picked up the trumpet for about 5 years. Sorta learning guitar a little bit now, but what I really wanna learn is the bass guitar.

piano/organ/various keyboard instruments (8yrs, but I still suck at it coz I never really had lessons, heh)
bass (3yrs)
flute and dizi (1yr, learning pretty quickly)
erhu (1yr, learning sloooowly. You'd think because I played a bowed string instrument I'd have an easier time with this, but noooooo.)

I'm 18 years old and FINALLY learning the piano. It's very sad but better now than never. It's a shame that I am learning now and the learning curve feels hella steep. I'm having trouble self teaching (piano teacher not an option atm). But i'll endure this, so one day I will be able to express my soul in the form of music.
