Ranting and Venting of a Pissed Off Retail Worker
4
Dear Fakku,
I work in the glorious world of retail, the business that treats its customers with ungodly amounts of more courtesy than its faithful workers. It's a slimy, stench of a workplace that demoralizes and degrades you until you can't keep it in any longer. I have reached that staged, and my rant begins here.
I work at a grocery store. Yes, I may have it better than some of your Wally World workers, but that's like saying shit has it better off than piss. I work in the meat department, which gets enough traffic to put the morning rush of Chicago to shame. The place that I work treats its customers like idiots and newborn children. How can they be treated as both? Well, you use standard psychology that every store uses to trick its customers to buy more, and lick their buttholes at the same time.
The customer is ALWAYS right. A customer complained about me not helping them out, when I clearly did, on a terribly busy day mind you. The manager would have none of this employee defending himself. Instead, I'm "here for them," and need to treat them better. A customer literally took a nice big shit in the middle of our store once, and we were the ones responsible for cleaning it up. I bet they gave the person a ten dollar coupon for their trouble.
Don't get me started on the customer's attitude. It seems that every rude asshole in town comes to shop on the same day, Coupon Thursday. What is that? Well, on this special and glorious day, you get ten dollars off any purchase of fifty or more. No, it doesn't increase in increments, and it excludes alcohol, milk, and a nice long list of exceptions. In essence, a ploy to get customers to buy more.
On to these arrogant assholes. To be honest, most of the ingrates are fat motherfuckers (no offense if this applies to anyone) who I guess have lived their whole life being babied by the retail world. The funny thing is that it's always the worker's fault if you can't have your way. If we're out of stock, fuck me, why the hell did I not think of doing the manager's business. A price is too high? Well fuck me for not overriding the system to fit your budget. You just shit your pants? Well let me just wipe your ass for you!
The managers have no fucking clue what goes on besides their jerk offmanager's office. I think I know what goes where and when I need to put stuff out more than you do. I actually do work instead of bitch at people and lick customers' bumholes all day. I actually spend time trying to figure out what is best for the situation, not just doing something for the sake of "looking productive."
Seriously, retail. Give the workers some god damn dignity. Ok, so we pissed a customer off. Big fucking deal. It's not like they can afford another place will go another place just because I gave them the wrong price. Why do we let these assholes shit on us, then demand us to clean it up. It just sucks. [/h]

Costumers are indeed always right. Just deal with it professionally, it's just another day at work.

The next topic will be about how a customer actually thanked him for doing a good job, gave him a blowjob, and sent a recommendation to the manager. Of course, such a topic will be made in the dreams section, or if it was still around, the paranormal section.

How does this person have the time to take a dump without anyone walking in on that? o_O I know it sucks for you, but if they actually squatted down in the middle of the store and shat, I have to say... I'm kind of amazed.

@topic: Okay, I didn't have any experience manning a cashier or anything (why would I?), but technically in my opinion, "The Customer is Always Right" is wrong, it should be "The Customer (Depending on Who) is 50%-95% right". For example, I went to a local game retailer in my country, there was thing guy arguing with the cashier about some technical specs things, I approached them and told the guy what the cashier said was correct. You should have seen the face of the guy.

People need to follow this guy's example:
RELEASE YOUR ANGER ON YOUR CUSTOMERS!
Yea i know you'd be fired in real life.

I can relate, I have to deal with people from Atlanta all day. But the business's mindset is reversed. They take care of their staff before they take care of the customer. I get so many rude, arrogant SOB's that sometimes I just really want to slam my fist down on the counter and go 'what the fuck is your problem? Who told you that you were able to treat other people like this?'
But I feel for you.
But I feel for you.

I used to work at this nasty pizza dump, and there was this sign that said, "we reserve the right to refuse service to anyone". that alone* made that cheap ass crap job bareable. i loved that sign so much, i get a little chub just thinking about it. there is no better feeling than to point at that sign and calmly say, "get out". if ever i start my own retail business, that's the very first thing i would buy.

I work in retail myself, and I'm technically management(3rd key) management, but I work for a small mom and pop place. I actually get more shit from the people I work with than customer's because the guy who owns the place also happens to be my boss/manager. Has a I don't need to put up with your bullshit attitude. I try to coax the idiot's into shutting up and buying it. But I like the policy we have at the store. We are not here to kiss your ass, if you act like an asshole prepared to be treated like an asshole.

Really, I wouldn't even be mad. I'd be impressed. I might applaud them and announce their accomplishment over the PA.

To all who liked my rant, thank you. I have a lot of pent up anger about tons of topics, so do expect more in the future. I thought I wasn't coming across as funny, although I want to be. Using humor is sometimes the best way to get a point across instead of just swearing the whole time.
And to those asking about the person who took a dump, it did happen. I did not see it firsthand, but it's a secondhand story that's been confirmed by more than one person. I don't know if they squatted and took their dump right then and there, but still the fact that nothing was really done about it irritates me.
Don't even get me started on being a courtesy clerk. Unless you want to get me started on it.

Terrific rant, and something I totally agree with. I've worked in retail and dealt with a bunch of asswhipes. Eventually, it got to me too much and I snapped on a customer. He was continuously complaining to me about something I had no control over, even after I explained to him, so I shouted, "I JUST FUCKEN TOLD YOU I CAN'T DO SHIT! YOU'RE THE STUPIDEST MOTHER FUCKER THAT'S EVER WALKED THE PLANET, NOW GET THE FUCK OUT OF MY FACE!"
...I was fired, but it was the most satisfying work day I've ever had.

I vote you get started on it XD Courtesy clerk has gotta have some good stories tied in with it.
