Ranting and Venting of a Pissed Off Retail Worker

Thank you, x-gen. It's nice to have support. Like you were mentioning, the people who complain about retail work usually have never experienced it before. I know I don't have the worse job out there, but there are just things about the job that infuriate me.

If I could minus rep you, I would, because you are complaining about your job, which you get paid for. If you don't like your job, go elsewhere. It's posts like these that remind me of the awesomeness of people. Rep for making me laugh.

I've only worked in retail for a short time, I haven't met anyway annoying customers yet though.
However I just walked up to where I work, got told I wasn't allowed to work and had to see my manager tomorrow, and then I had to walk home again ._.
I have a small idea as to what's it about and I'll probably be fired. But my Manager appears to expect me to be the perfect employee and make no mistakes, even though this is my first job and since I'm human and all, mistakes will happen.
I'm kinda hoping I will be fired, the people there are fucking horrible.

Retail (and the service industry in general) have always been fantastic jobs for me. Maybe you aren't trying hard enough. You're looking at things the wrong way if you think they are treating you like shit 100% of the time because "I deserve the best customer service evar". I'd be more worried about the asshole managers who are letting this shit happen to you. If they aren't taking care of you even after someone fuck wad shit on the floor and left you to clean it, then something is wrong.
Why are you still making minimum wage after a year and a half? You should put in for a raise. In the mean time, keep looking for better jobs. You should find something more suitable for yourself than cleaning up after other people's shit. Literally. You should have started a year and a half ago, when you first got this job, if you had any inkling how horrible this would be.

The company I work for doesn't have the best line of managers. I've heard of people being laughed at asking for a raise. Even if one of them did hear my plea, they probably wouldn't do anything about it. When I first started, I was making under minimum wage. I can't tell you how many times I brought it up, but it was eventually fixed two or three months after I started working. I got paid the difference eventually, but it's still upsetting how they wouldn't do anything about it.

Also, I don't think he's necessarily saying that he "deserves" the best customer service ever. He's just rather telling people who have never worked retail ever to take some chill pills before they enter the store. There are people who go through life and never even get close to a retail job, and that's fine, but a lot of them tend to be stuck-up know-it-alls who treat workers like shit because they think they are superior (or rather that the worker is retarded).
On that note, I think you can do your best every day at any job and no one would give a shit. But, if you mess up, everyone hates you for it. I think he's just looking for some recognition that he's doing his job right. I just got done watching Eva 1.0 again, so I stole that theory from Misato about Shinji.

I certainly don't expect praise from every customer like you said. I just want a little dignity. And what you say in the second paragraph is very true. The managers never take notice of the good job I do, but when I mess up, then they take notice of my failures and how I'm no good.
