Though this riddle has too many possible answers(way too vague!, it could be perception, mind, fear, home, ashes, the list goes on and on.)

Family is a good answer, but "two parts" doesn't fit family, and you could be born in a test tube... so who needs family?

The second one is god.
You only recognize God when you need his help, or are figuratively in the darkness, and you forget him when all is going right, or you are in the light.
And I think the answer to the first one is chromosomes.

I almost wanted to guess sperm for this one, but it doesn't fit the hear it part or begins/ends part. And the see it would require a microscope.
Reveal it if you want, it has been a few weeks. You've really stumped everyone minsc, goodjob.
