RIP Steve Jobs

He'll be missed. He may have been an ass, but damn he could make a computing product.
Used his products for a lot of my young life and they gave me a great deal of tech literacy. Can't say I'm not grateful or un-admiring of the man.

well wow is really all I can say...didn't even know he was sick. I'm glad he brought the idea of the Ipod into the world, probably the best invention to store MP3's on.

I didn't even know Steve Jobs could die. You'd think he would of made an iBody for himself or something.
Rest in peace, Steve Jobs. Your stockholders will miss you.

Was never a fan of newer apple products, but never disliked Jobs. May he finally rest.

We can say all we want about Apple, but dammn, Jobs knew how to work, how to make it work and how to sell it.
Shame to see him gone.
Rest in Peace, Steve Jobs.

So what do you think it's going to be like without him?
What his death makes me feel though, is sad.
From what he has done over the past 20 odd years, he's probably one of those people that you couldn't say you hate or like. He like an in-betweener. Someone that you can go to in order to get things done properly. A true blue believer of what he wanted.
When the first Mac came out, it really wasn't anything special. Simply put, it was an clone of IBM's machine. But it was his GUI that got us into that interface where you can see what you're doing, not just imagining it in your head. When he left, he left because it wasn't time for his drive and reach.
During university, I did project management and one of the things that struck me was how much Jobs impacted on what will be the study of project management such as the belief in the company, the changing in attitudes and environment and finally, what do you want the customers to perceive you as. These were the things that Jobs did well.
Initially, before Jobs, we didn't have Pixar. We had crappy animation studios that couldn't push the boundaries of what was computer graphic imaging.
Initially, before Jobs, we had Nokia. The Symbian OS was practically the dominant phone OS back in the 90s and early 00s.
Initially, before Jobs, we had an explosion of MP3 players that sometimes, didn't work because of all the various technical steps to get them working or play our tunes.
Initially, before Jobs, we had MP3s. There was no HD-audio codec, let alone developed.
Initially, before Jobs, we bought music at retail stores and watched movies trailers at the movies or on TV. Online distribution wasn't even a blip then.
Initially, before Jobs, tablets were chunky systems that weren't designed to be comfortable to use.
Now, everything's changed. I hated him in destroying competition in the MP3 player market. I hate him when I walk into the store and it takes weeks or months to get that CD when someone has already gotten it on launch day. I hated him for the people that croon loudly about their white clamshell laptops when in fact, it was a normal PC running expensive software. I hated him bringing down some of the companies that had taken on Apple and failed.
But you know what. Without him, we wouldn't all of this. So all I can really say is good night, Jobs. You've really earn it.
