Running out of time? or something like that

So I used to live and work in Toyama, Japan and then due to some bizarre events I had to move to Tokyo (I'm pretty okay with this). I was only in Toyama for a couple of weeks anyway. However, back in Toyama there were a lot of other foreigners from my company and one in particular I really hit it off with (we even did that whole "share umbrella" thing because there was a get-together but no one showed up except me and her and it started raining while we took a walk amongst the cherry blossoms loool).

Anyway, I didn't communicate with her for awhile since I had to get my life set back up. However earlier today I decided to email her (have her # too) out of the blue because, like, I feel like there really was something and if I were still in Toyama we could even be dating. But, I'm not really sure how to proceed. I kind of want to tell her my feelings but it's a long ass train ride and LDRs ain't my thing. Plus, she was pretty pumped to get an email from me again so, her potential feelings could still be there too.

Pretty much just not sure if I should lay my cards on the table or see how things pan out.

Edit: So I e-mailed back and forth a bunch with her today and turns out she wants to move to Tokyo next year, so I dunno, a potential plan of action could be to just keep in contact with her and then really act on it when she moves or maybe when she comes to Tokyo for any rare and random reason. I just feel like this kind of thing should be done in person I guess. Any thoughts?

I think there was something. There were more things that happened I could tell you about but I don't want more tl;dr. And actually, no, train rides are very cheap. However multiple Shinkansen rides to the other side of the country? It's like 4 hours and is expensive. So unfortunately I can't meet for coffee on Saturday.

I personally think you should lay all the cards out and then see what happens.

My assumption would be that she is trying to catch to learn of your opinions of tokyo... but that's just me.

We already discussed our opinions of Tokyo etc. I think it's a lot better than Toyama, Shibuya's cool, she loves Shibuya, she's been dying to move to Tokyo.

Also, I would set something up, but Toyama is over 4 hours away from Tokyo by train. It's expensive too. So it's not something I can just be like, "Hey you wanna meet up in a couple weeks?" That's one of the biggest issues of this whole situation.

No, yeah, you're right. That's sort of why I made the title the way I did. The best case hypothetical scenario I'm imagining right now is call her up, be like, "Hey, I feel like there was a connection back in Toyama, yadda yadda," she says, "Oh, yeah, me too." Then we either just have to sit on it and keep it in the back of our minds until we meet up for whatever reason or sort of have it as an open offer so if when she does move and if she's still interested, sure, let's do it. Because like I said, LDRs aren't my style.

So, I guess, either way, there's gonna be long term inaction.

Well it seems you know what your doing but, I'm just gonna say my share just to give you my opinion on the matter. Sounds like you got a good plan going just don't forget about her worse things in life in my opinion is being alone. Just try to live normally for now and talk to her on occasion get to know more about her those little conversations can go a long way and by the time she moves to Tokyo you already know a lot about her and then you can decide.

It seems pretty solid to me, yeah. Casual, but honest. Seeking but not pressuring. Take it slow, but lay your cards on the table. Friendships are great foundations for lasting couplings.
