Sleep paralysis

I have sleep paralysis quite often and was wondering how common it is, do any of you experience this as well and if so how often? When it happens to me i can't move at all, i can't open my eyes or speak and i also can't breath. It happens so often now that iv learned to be aware that it's happening and be able to shake myself out of it rather quickly where as when it first started happening it would take me until i almost suffocate to snap out of it.
I know some people still dream or have hallucination while paralyzed and it can be quite frightening, so interpret what I'm about to say in any way everyone has there own opinion but iv never ever had my eyes open while being paralyzed except for one time. During that time i saw two being in my room standing about three feet away from me.
I don't know if it was a hallucination because i was also able to move my head while the rest of my body was paralyzed and i looked at my dogs which was at the other end of the bed at the time and she was staring at the two beings in my room. This lasted for about 20 seconds then they vanished and i didn't close my eyes and then open them to see they were gone then wake up, it was as if i was awake the entire time but couldn't move so i don't know what to say about what i saw.
So has anyone had any similar experiences or also have sleep paralysis?

Someone took the title of the section quite literally...
I had a sleep paralysis on the night when I first watched the original Japanese 'The Ring' movie when I was younger. Having a brief hallucination of a pale, long-haired Japanese chick sitting on top of me was not arousing at all as some of you might believe.

I've had two cases of sleep paralysis. When I first moved to my current apartment, I didn't have a bed, just a mattress on the floor so I would sleep there. One night I woke up and couldn't move my body. I could only move my head. Shortly afterward, I heard a vicious knocking on my door,as if someone was trying to knock it down. Then I heard rapid footsteps as if someone was running towards me and then I see someone come running through the door and lunges himself at me and tries to choke me. I snap out of it soon after and the person disappeared. That one was scary but I find my second one scarier.
I wake up in the middle of the night, again being unable to move. The bedroom door is next to bed and for some reason I decide to look at it. There, in the middle of the darkness and right in the entrance, there was a white figure staring at me. I feel scared but don't even have time to react before this...thing, attacks me. I have my covers on up to my neck at the time so it doesn't get to me directly, but I could still feel it trying to rapidly scratch it's way through. I try yelling but nothing comes out of my mouth. It disappears shortly after but I just stay there immobile for almost 5 minutes, terrified by what just happened.
The closest thing I can compare it to is maybe a white owl like the one below, except I don't think it had wings.

I've had sleep paralysis before. Your brain being awake but not your body? Shit is scary as all hell.

I was 6 I had a dream where I was falling from the sky and this darkness was covering my body the more I fell the more the I was covered. When I was completely consumed by black I woke up but I couldnt feel my body it was scary.

I dunno, that sounds kinda like a sleep paralysis and wet dream to me. Lol.
Sleep paralysis does suck, though. Not being able to move can be pretty scary.

I read that sleep paralysis is actually a way to enter lucid dreams. They say that if you manage to get through the hallucinations and fucked-up shit that makes you want to wake up as soon as possible without getting out of paralysis, that you'll go into an out-of-body experience.
I've personally never experienced it. I've tried, without success.

Used to happen to me a long time ago, but stopped.
Yet, a few weeks ago when I was sleeping across my bed in the day time (forgot what I did that day) I tried to wake up, but I could not. It was sort of scary, so much I tried to shout, but could not do a single thing. After a split second later I was fully awake and able to move. It is a weird experience and glad it has not happen again. Wonder if that has any underlying meanings...

This used to scare the hell out of me when I was young because it happened to me almost all the time. It finally stopped when I reached a certain age (forgot when). It hasn't happened since then though.

So how dose it feel to have SP? I think I never experienced it, but I cant be sure what I do in sleep. So I would like to know so I can figure out if I have it too.

I heard incoherent voices/whispers while feeling like I was falling 50 feet. I could not wake up or move even if I tried. I saw my body down on the bed and I was floating right above it. I was awake then, and because I was scared I wanted to get down so I gently floated down on the bed to my body, while grey figures left and right was staring at me. I could move my arms normally again by then and voices disappeared.

So I would like to know so I can figure out if I have it too. It's basically your awake but cant move at all. Some people have their eyes open and will see stuff that their brain is still creating thinking its still dreaming, thats why alot of people will blame aliens abduction on sleep paralysis because it feels so real but what your seeing is not actually there.
Not everyone has there eyes open and not everyone sees stuff for me the majority of the times i have it im just paralyzed with my eyes closed and i just have to shake myself out of it.

I had sleep paralysis in my teens. The first few times I freaked out and was scared to death, then I read everything I could find on it. I learned to stay calm, try to think of something nice and concentrate on breathing. Time passed and I could 'weak up' faster and faster, and then I just stopped. Now I can't even remember the last time it happened.

I've had it on multiple occasions. It sucks really, especially when I'm asleep in the car, on the coach, or in class. Then I start to see shit which freaks me out until I shake my head to wake up.

Yep. Dreamt I was falling through the clouds and the air was blowing way too fast at my face in order for me to take a breath. I woke up with my face buried in my pillow, I managed to roll off my bed to break the paralysis.

I've had sleep paralysis happent to me twice.
I was in bed one time and it was sunny, I could hear my parents talking but I was unable to move, breath, etc.
It was quite a scary experience for me.
I don't think i had any illusions thought.

I'm so glad there are others who are experiencing this!
I have had them for a many years now. My first was when i was lying next to my ex-boyfriend in bed. He was awake staring at me, And I have my eyes open when the paralysis started. I tried to cry out and kick but he said all I was doing was staring at him then fell asleep. Other times it has felt like someone was sitting on my back making it hard to breath and would play with my hair.
I do have lucid dreams sometimes which I love. I find through sleep paralysis is the best way to get to it. What I do is whenever I'm in that position, I don't freak out. It may seem scary that you cannot breath or move, or that you may see things but you need to remember that they aren't real...so just go along with it.
Happy dreaming ;)
