So this guy i used to hang out with got popped for this. he met a girl IN a bar. she had a fake ID. he was dating her for about two weeks, but then her parents found out, and called the cops on dude. now dude's in prison. when he gets out he has to register as a sex offender. justice?

Umm if he could tell she was younger looking than she said than he should have known the consenquences. But it sounds like it was pretty fucked up. But then again if that girl was a minor the law will take her side over your friend's.

Dude, sucks to be your friend.
I cant beleive her parents did that though that kinda rough. like, I would have just been like, BACK OFF! not im gonna put you in prison so you can get charged and raped by some guy named Sheila.

now did he know she was underaged?
I feel for the guy, if he really didnt know thats fucked up. I mean girls develop sooner then before so sometimes a 14 year old would look 22 or at the very least look the part

Forgot to mention in OP, turns out she was only 15. he met her IN a bar. he thought she was 21. i saw her once and she looked old enough. she had D-cups at least. now i know that's not an accurate measure of age, but none of us knew how old she realy was until he got arrested.

So how old was this friend of yours?
No matter what the age, the scenario is twisted on many levels.
Firstly the guy is thrown in jail. The time he spends in there is taken away from his life and will most likely have a big impact on whatever life he once lived. If he was in college, that's probably fucked. If he was working, he probably lost that job.
Secondly, getting a job after getting out of prison is very difficult. Seriously? Have you ever seen a job application that doesn't ask if you've been jailed, arrested, or anything along the lines? That's going to screw things up for him.
Third, there's the eye of society. People with knowledge of this event will likely view him like a pedophile. O wait, he is one (Just kidding). Seriously though, he'll be marked as a sex offender and it's usually made public (without regard to how people will react and how embarrassing it is). It's kind of weird how there's a sex offender living next door to me. Normally I wouldn't have known or cared (still don't really) but because of how publicized shit like this becomes... it doesn't stay secret for long. He's listed on the net (won't provide link though, since he lives right next to me).
So yeah, the guy is fucked in those three ways (plus more). The girl? Well, she's fucked too.. just not in that way. She was fucked sexually.
Justified? No.
If girls want to fuck guys and choose to fuck em, they shouldn't be able to scream rape later (nor should their parents).

dude got caught up. I have the rule if I meet a chick in a club it aint going to be no long term thing, women from them type of environments are nothing but trouble. I feel really bad for your friend shit sucks

He should have a filed a complaint against the bar. They are to check all IDs. The bouncer and/or bartender should share the blame/charge. It is call Gross Negligence.
Remember, at bars and any other place that sells alchohol are guilty of the same crime when a drunk driver has a serious accident. I do not know if all states have passed this law but quite a few states have.

This happens thousands of times every night in every country. Your friend just got unlucky and met someone who told their parents for no fucking reason whatsoever. The reason the statutory rape law works so well is that if they girl really does want sex, she generally won't go on to tell her parents - so only the ones who were somehow coerced into it and feel bad afterwards will report it.

It still sounds weird that she actually went to the pub and got in, does that mean that the bar will be held responsible as well? also it wasnt like a 1 night stand thing it went for 2 weeks so I just feel like the guy has been relaly hard done by x.x hope he wasnt in prison for long and could argue his case at a later court meeting x.x

Any jurisdiction that gives the same punishment to a guy who failed do a full *fuckin* background check as the guy who went out and kidnapped little girls to fuck 'em is seriously wrong.

Wow...this is one of the reason why I like being an Asian..their looks matches their age (most of them)...seriously, rape??? Dating an underage = rape??? That's one messed up girl and family he met...

Yeah, I wasn't saying "screw him". I just mean that, since the overall topic is "Statutory rape" rather than "My friend got screwed over" I was just saying that consensual underage sex happens in huge numbers every day and normally it all works out because, since it's consensual, the police aren't gonna find out.
