The whose who of Doctor Who

I don't get why they were trying to kill him so he can't answer the question "doctor who?" because why would it be bad for him to answer. I thought it might compromise the history of the Time Lord or some thing like that. I was also thinking since River's parents are Human and she is a Time Lord could that mean that Time Lords are all descendants of humans or even that Time Lords aren't a race and that they are a byproduct of time travel like mutants.

The stuff about the Doctor's grave secret got me thinking of the Cartmel Masterplan, aka when they started implying during the McCoy era that the Doctor was one of the founder of Time Lord society along with Rassilon and Omega. I'd be pretty excited if they actually picked this up somehow. It would also explain why the Church's symbol is an Omega.
