The point is to kill someone by hitting them.

I'd spar with you. I have no idea who you are and will never meet you, but on principle I would agree to it.
Especially if you were actually capable of something like a one-punch kill.
Maybe I'd lose.

Well, if a guy has a gun to the back of you head, and you put your hands up, you can easily and effectively disarm him and/or kill him.
Basically:
1)Twist your body in one direction.
2)Use the arm that's closer to the assailant (ex. if you turn right, use the right hand, and vice-verse) and push his arm away from you.
3) Bring your other hand under his nose and hit it with your palm. If done with enough force, the bones in his nose will break and go right into his brain.

Commonly held belief. Well, the whole nose in the brain thing, at least. Not sure if it actually works, though, never actually tried it, but I'm sure the force to do it would have to be pretty great, and you'd have to get just the right angle on it, which would be difficult to determine on the spot, especially if you haven't had a good look at the person first. For many reasons, not the least of which being the fact that the nose is mostly flesh and cartilage, and the part that is bone is not very strong bone. Noses are easy to break, sure, but getting any piece of that broken nose to fatally wound a person's brain is a hassle you don't need to be worried about when someone is pointing a gun at you.
There is a lot to take into account when someone is threatening you with a gun, but for the average person, there isn't much you can do about it. It really depends on the situation. Most self-defense professionals will tell you not to try to fight a person who has a gun. And this is probably a good idea, only sometimes a person will kill you even if you comply. They were planning on it either way. Best thing to do is to try to avoid such situations in the first place.
