to be or not to be tattooed???
bad idea?

A dilemma. I really like linear/geometric designs and even more so when they work to underline (ha!) the shape/s of the body. My art is also straightforward and often incorporates simple forms like squares triangles lines etc. I have an idea of a full body tattoo that will be done overtime and this is one of the first elements (I see the tattoo itself as a piece). I really like it and I see it as a supportive part withing the whole (that is to come) but when I went to my tattoo guy he was like...."Girl... that is so fucking ugly. I never expected this design to be called ugly- i though that if ppl didn't like it then they wouldn't be bothered by it cause its not really a big deal- just two lines. But nooo he hated. To top it this woman came in to get her shit done and she also said she didn't like it and that I would regret it but at least she told me it was ok for her if I cut it down to the middle of my forearm (terrible length in my opinion).
FAKKU! you guys are pretty cool and even tho I don't really know what your biz is with tattoos I would like to ask you: Do you think this design sucks? Would I regret it? What tattoos do you have? Do you regret getting them? Any stories you'd like to share???
I'm not asking you to tell me what to do- I know I like it and am quite sure I won't regret it but still, I need to be aware of others' opinions- its something that everyone will see. I'm just curious. Thank you.
PS: I drew this with a marker and its a very simple guideline- the GENERAL idea.

First thing: Boobies!
Second thing: I'm not a huge fan, it looks far too long in my opinion..
Third thing: Needs moar loww
interpret how you wish. all i plan to do is get a buster blade (ff7) with a spiral of lightning or fire surrounding it.. sitting just up on my bicep... and maybe 0001337 GIL or something up on my right peck, just for epic lulz.
But yes, not a huge fan...
Also, your arms look far too skinny.

lol.. was messing around, been visiting car forums far too often telling people their imports 'need moar loww'
but yes, i was messing around for most of that post, but still, i don't think it suits your arms.... like, your arms are too skinny for it to be so long... if that makes sense.. it just makes your arms seem.. very, very long...
Also, i'm not a fan of long tatoo's... i'd only have one go from shoulder to just above my elbow... but even then, might be skeptical...

okay thank you...i kind of agree now that you said it that way. i really like long lines and that's why i chose the arm but its true that it may be too long now...what if i twirl the line around the arm- like how you tie a ribbon? i have to consider that....maybe horizontal stripe?? hahaha

not sure... I was thinking a box around the bicep-ish area would seem alright... but then saying that, i feel i have a thing with tatoo's on the bicep xD
But seriously, give it a crack, post a picture and we shall see... can't really tell until you give an example lol... i mean, i have a decent imagination, but it lacks in some areas

I have to say I agree with your tattoo guy. Or rather, the design looks rather neat but poorly implemented. I guess it would fit nicely if you planned to do an entire sleeve, but as it is right now it looks kinda off. But yeah, try to shorten it and it might look better.
And are the straight lines important? It might look kinda funky(in a good way) to twist them down each side of your arm and cross eachother?
Something like this, kinda.
edit: alright, that shit is kinda ugly, but you get the point.

mmmm yeah i guess it looks scary i thought it would hurt but it actually felt really good + a little pain of course but i liked it! it kinda felt like someone's scratching your itch that is under the skin but very intensely.... theres places that hurt less- the eye i have on my hand was supposed to hurt a lot cause of all the bones but it totes didnt it was awesome

:/ im so....what would be the word...disapoint in my abilities mmmmmmmh~ this sucks! ive designed so many tats and the ppl that asked me really liked them but i guess my own stuff are not that good. MAD
yeah the straight lines are very important all tattoos i have are very simple and linear. they are reminders the eye- is to see everything i do- keep me in check, my other one- the number IV stands for strength and stability (numerology stuff my mom calculated) and my initials.
mmmm that image is actually pretty ok as a source for ideas... where did you get it from are there more????
...why is being "skinny" such a big deal?

Aiight so the lines are important. Shucks, then I'm out of ideas. The problem are the straight lines after all, first off: You are slender and have slender arms, vertical lines will make your arms look even longer and more slender. Secondly: where do the lines end? Do they just end abruptly, or do they have an endpoint somewhere?
edit: I mean, if you planned to make a full body tattoo, then maybe you should just go with the straight lines up to, say your elbow right now, and finish it off when there's some other part done that will make it all make sense?
As for the image, I made it myself. I tried to make the eye outline part as similar to yours as I could judging from the image you posted, though I just made it quickly, since the lines were the focus.

....omg my arms do look very skinny dont they....ughhhAAAARGGGHH!!!!! i guess they end somewhere around the 5th vertebrae/base of the neck. maybe i can....idk... mmmmyeah i guess ill shorten those fucking stupid lines that dont look good on my stupid skinny arms and maybe sharpen the ends and/or make them fade
i really hate settling for less cause i usually have any expectations but i guess i have no choice
but youve been really helpful thanks alot...good ummm image making skills btw
(i hate you for using the word skinny like 1000 times tho... shame on you for making me feel self conscious... shame. shame!)

You're welcome, and as you can now see, I did not once call you skinny. :)
As for the end, why not let them end in a knot or something like you first suggested? I'd still recommend shortening them though. The thing is that if they join in with something else on the back of your shoulder/neck, it can probably look pretty cool, but as a single piece it looks odd. So you could just fade them out, or end them cleanly enough so that they can be continued at a later date.

As long as it's in a place that can be covered up. it can be very hard to get a job if you have tats on your hands, neck, or face.

Your body, your desire, go for it. Just make sure you get a good tatoo artist, that things gonna be on you for a while.

"im always cute"
I'm not a fan of tattoos at all, but as far as most go I think that one doesn't look so bad.

If you want a tattoo, keep it small. Otherwise when you grow old or change your mind, its not going to be blatantly obvious.

ehh... I'm really no tattoo fan, never have been one, many people just do it and then they have to get surgery after years when it gets boring to remove it, I think too preciously of the human body to do that, the human body is perfect as it is for me and the most beautiful in its natural state, there are some really good tattoos out there but that belongs on the paper in my opinion not under the human skin. Its your body, I dont especially hate it but youve got nice skin and it would be a pity in my opinion.
